Actually .9 is not just very very close to 1, it’s exactly equal to 1.
You can see this easily be considering 1/3 which is 0.3333... then if you multiply 1/3 by 3 you get 1 which is 0.9999...

Just had a driving lesson and in 5 minutes have a maths lesson (unfortunately using harder maths writing recurring numbers as fractions
