The Student Room Group

apparently nobody in my year at school likes me

So everybody seems to hate/dislike me for some reason. the people (in particular) that I'm talking about act nice to my face and then behind my back to my close mate they sit and stay stuff e.g "he's gay" and "he's really weird"

I'm sorry but I consider myself a good friend, I don't slabber about anyone unless I have good reason to. I'm shy and quiet and I keep myself to myself, I've never done anything to hurt anyone in that school so I can't see why they all think I'm gay and a creep, I'm not gay nor am I camp not that i have a problem with both because I am not homophobic unlike them and I'm not creepy either , I'm quiet but if someone talks to me I'm always polite back.

I'm in year 12 and I've had enough now, it's so immature and to think these people are only a year or so away from starting uni.

Being gay (I know you said your not) isn’t a bad thing. I’m sure somebody will like you mate, (somehow) has friends and was a right a-hole (but a polite one). Being polite will get you far, pettyless name calling won’t.
naa i highly doubt, its easy to spread sh*t even tho its prolly not true, just be wary and hold your ground
u might do gay things such as looking in a guys eyes for too long, being wayyy too close, kissing their cheeks and licking them
Hey, I'm really sorry to hear that. School kids can be a cruel bunch; personally, I hated school and found it cliquey/insular. That being said, we all have a tendency to overthink these things - it's probably nowhere near as bad as you think. I can promise you that some people like you, you just don't realise it!

The good news is that you're close to leaving, and it really does get better. If you choose to go to uni, you'll naturally gravitate towards people you're similar with - for me, my best friends are the ones I made at university, as I found people I actually had shared interests with.

Even if you don't go to uni, you'll come to realise that school is completely different to the 'real world'. I can promise that you'll look back in a few years and wonder why you were so bothered!

If they truly didn't like you I doubt they'd talk to you - I certainly don't make conversation with people I dislike!
Grin and bear it. Life after school is so much better. People are less judgemental (or if they're gonna be judgemental they will say it to your face so you know who to avoid ).

peak its not, you gonna drop me?
High school kids are shallow and judgemental. I know, I am one. Don't worry what they think unless you believe their jabs point to any serious character flaws, which 9 times out of 10, they don't. Besides, most of the people talking behind your back aren't going to end up socialising with you anyway, and even if they do, they'll quickly discover you're not nearly as bad as some might say, and they'll begin to like you. These are the people whose opinions actually matter in this context.

P.S. Being called gay is hardly an insult.
