What should a year 11 student be doing right now

I’m in year 11 and I’m really scared for my exams.Can someone tell me as a year 11 student what I should be doing right now for exams and also what I should have already done for my exams? (Notes,revision flash cards, mind maps ,pastpapers.)? Thankyou

Honestly, as a postgrad, this is something that is completely independent of where you are in your education.

I find flashcards are great for exam prep but everyone is different on this, find what works for you and try to stay open to new approaches. :smile:

Also, learning things by rote is seriously under-estimated. Once you write something out 50 times... that's going to stay with you for a good long while.

This depends on you as a learner. Some people find that helpful but usually, it's a waste of time. It's better to condense your notes to single flashcards.

Mehhhh... People always have more time than they actually realise. If it helps you then do it, but make sure you allow some time for actual exam-style preparation.

I've made the mistake before of reading the textbook gleefully until the last minute and then realising that I hadn't really prepared much for the exam at all. They should be the same thing but sadly, they're usually not.

Wow you really are freaking out, aren't you? :P

Those look like very tidy, useful notes. Just take your time and start thinking more and more about "what can I expect on exam day?" then style your revision towards that.

I suspect you'll be fine. :smile:

I wouldn`t say writing notes is a complete waste of time, but it`s definitely less productive than practising questions.
There are actually scientific studies showing that you learn much much much more by answering questions than by reading or making notes.
To make it easier, you can use Seneca Learning and Quizzlet - both have loads of GCSE questions and are free.

Another good strategy is to explain things out loud. Can be to your friends, or to yourself, or to your dog, doesn`t really matter!

And start revising asap. You will forget some of the content, everybody does! So it`s better if you can plan to have time to revise the same content again after a few days.
