Rana sells 192 cakes in Ratio small:Medium:Large = 7:6:11

The profit for 1 medium cake is twice profit for one small cake
The profit for 1 large cake is three times profit of one small cake

Her total profit is £532.48

The first thing to do would be to use the ratio of small, medium and large cakes sold and the fact that Rana sells 192 cakes to work out how many small, medium and large cakes Rana sells. The total profit will then be the profit for each type of cake multiplied by the number of that type of cake that Rana sells. Then, you need to use the information you are given about how the profit from medium and large cakes compares to small cakes to then derive an equation relating only the profit for one small cake.

Re-post ratios again with spacers between : please
If you do it for algebra, the profit for a small cake could be x, and then medium would be 2x and large 3x.
If you work out the sum of the numbers in the ratio and then divide 192 by that number you will get how many 1 bit of the ratio is. And then you can work out how many cakes of each size were sold. Then multiply the number of cakes in each part by the profit and add them together to get a total.... then divide 532.48 by that number to get the profit for one small cake....

Spoiler

7 + 6 + 11 = 24

192 / 24 = 8

8 x (7 + 6 + 11) = 192 = 56 small (cost=1) + 48 medium (cost=2) + 88 large (cost=3)

1x56 + 2x48 + 3x88 = 56 + 96 + 264 = 416

£ 532.48 / 416 = £ 1.28 per unit small cost
Proof;

£1.28 x 56 = £71.68

(£1.28x2) x 48 = £122.88

(£1.28x3) x 88 = £337.92

£71.68 + £122.88 + £337.92 = £ 532.48
I wanna work for Rana. She makes decent coin :smile:
