Why do people hate communism so much?

I don't know too much about it, but to me it sounds like a good way to run a country

It isn't, and would never work. Every time it has been tried it failed and resulted in death and poverty.
One day we might be wise enough to be communists but I'm not holding my breath.

You just need to take a look at history and how Communist nations have fared. Parts of it sound great and if they could realistically be implemented may not seem so bad but at the end of the day we have to be pragmatic and realist.

Nobody hates communism, which is not to say communists can't be hateful. Communism can only be applied under a dictatorship, does that get a clean bill of health from you? There are a few side-effects to the vision of the streets paved with gold to be thought of, that is one of the reservations some people have about Communism. 20th century history tells us much about experiments with the system in the world, why does it sound like a good idea? Lots of questions, healthy curiosity always a good thing.

Why respect a failed system, its like endorsing venezuela as a government model.....

People try to learn from their failures its only human.
Because it is an unfair system that treats everyone the same without consideration for their different strengths, limitations and needs. In communism a person who works morning day and night is equal in pay grade to a person who chooses not to work at all. That is unfair and cause for ruin in society.

The USSR, Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba... Which one of these failed states that have caused the deaths of tens of millions of people have impressed you so much with communism and made you think its a good way to run a country?

It all sounds great but in reality it fails since the person in power will take more since it's in their interests, at the expense of the rest of the population... just look at North Korea. Would reccommend reading George Orwell's Animal Farm, a metaphor for the communist system.
if Mr Corbyn gets in you will find out first hand the joys of Communism.
Its clear why people hate communism but first - it ignores human nature.

How is taking everything that people have away from them "great in theory"?
It is a selfish doctrine and its past implementation has not exactly been desirable.

Why don't you have a look at the manifestoes of the British Communists Parties -

Obviously the whole "we're going to take everything from you and decide what's best".

What about essentially legalising pedophila?

What about creating essentially a British Second Amemdment and giving military weapons to all working people?

^^This is why people hate and fear communism so much. They do evil things, make everyone poor and keep them that way at the point of a gun.

Google it. It's the main reason why communism won't work. People's empathy and ability to forge meaningful relationships is limited to no more than a few hundred people at the very best, and even that alone doesn't guarantee those people would be prepared to share everything with one another. You might do so, with closest friends and family.

Trying to enforce such a system on a country of several million... simply doesn't fit the mould.

Small communities have apparently implemented it successfully before. There were some in Spain before WW2. Although I don't know much about it... it does corroborate with what I've already said.

If it makes the communists in this forum feel better, we simply aren't evolved enough. I recon it would take another few tens of thousand years (maybe a few hundred if accelerated with genetic engineering) for humans to evolve so much that their ability to naturally empathize with other people would grow to the tens or hundreds of millions. It may never happen at all. Until then though, don't bother. People have to subscribe to it voluntarily. Forcing people to adopt ideology or customs that they disagree with is dangerous.

There's also the argument that greater homogeneity across a population, reduces competitiveness within it, and therefore reduces the effectiveness of natural selection and further evolution. Like a law of diminishing returns, the more people evolve in the direction of communism, the slower their progress towards it. Hence I think it will never happen.

It's interesting that Marx's conception of communism was to be a condition without any centralised government and where people lived as communities (it's no surprise that there are Marxist anarchists for example). This fits with Marx and Engel's 'Historical Materialism' which posits that humans evolved, more or less, living as hunter-gatherer communist communities and that all subsequent (and very recent) modes of production have broken that up. In this theory humans return to communism when social/technological circumstances emerge sufficiently to promote that.

The global mostly right wing media control what you read in peppers and what gets put on our TVs...so a hate campaign against communism and indeed against socialism is out in front of people on a daily basis. The media fear any form of limitation or control or even supervision so they rail against communism and socialism so they can carry on peddling their right wing views.

Most people are sheep and go with the flock. You will often hear many people say “but in the news they said...etc etc”and believe every word the media tells them.

But look at Cuba...the best healthcare system and education system in the world, and even the right wing press grudgingly admire their education system.

If for example Britain were communist, the Establishment would be destroyed and that could never happen because the elected and priveleged would not allow it to. Communism is feared and hated because we are told it is wrong for us. We are not allowed by the media to stop and think for a moment whether it would be preferable or not.

Even socialism is being denied a hearing in Britain today. Jeremy Corbyn is the most feared leader of the Labour Party Simply because he wants to hold big business to account, make them pay their taxes, renationalise and publically own our rail system, totally restructure our NHS and education systems so they work for the many...and he wants to reign in the excesses of the media and hold them to account to. And the media won’t have it, so every smear campaign they can think of against Corbyn is made headline news so it seeps into people’s consciousness. The global media are very clever, they control the way most people think.
