My boyfriend is extremely interested in films and is planning to make a short film over summer. He is also taking a film studies course at college. I want to get him a birthday present that could be useful and fun, something that appeals to someone who is really interested in watching and making films. Any recommendations?

Probably books by his favourite directors or writer or producers? I use to help a friend make films and I read a few books by filmmakers, they were quite inspiring at the time. You could get something like:
