Student loans will not normally affect a borrowers credit rating unless they are in arrears with any repayments/overpayments. 3rd party companies who provide credit or finance to customers outside of Student Loans will have their own defined set of criteria and may take into consideration Student Loans when assessing their customers. If you are questioning whether a Student Loan will be considered when applying for other finance, it is best to advise to speak the provider of the finance. Student Loans Company do not implement Credit Checks on students or their sponsors.So customers with bad credit ratings can still apply.Regards Rona
