Worcester Accommodation - Traditional Room

I'm looking at the accommodation at Worcester and I want my rent to be as close to £100 per week as possible. So, I was wondering what people thought about the traditional rooms? (too small, worth looking at the more expensive ones etc).

Any opinion will be appreciated, thanks :smile:

When I went to the university open day, I was provided with a helpful information book on all accommodation. This may be slightly too late, but I will attach an image with descriptions of Traditional and Standard, which are the two cheapest.

In my personal opinion, I don't think the traditional rooms are that bad, and have put them as my third preference of accommodation. The only thing I would advise is to make sure you have a lot of blankets, as the windows don't look as insulating as other rooms. Bedrooms are slightly smaller, but it's enough room to study and sleep and storage space is the same. Hope this is useful!Snapchat-1650028708-compressed.jpg.jpeg

Hey, thank you for the information! I also ended up putting the traditional as my third preference. What course are you hoping to partake in next year then, I'm just curious? (That's me assuming that you will be a first year student).

Not a problem! Was happy to help. I applied for BA Drama and Performance, and will be a first year student in September. Really looking forward to it.

Ahh cool, nice choice for a course too, I'm a big theatre fan! Yeah I'm looking forward to it too, though I am a little nervous moving so far away from home.

Where do you live, if you don't mind? And what will you be studying? Glad there'll be a theatre fan. Maybe we can plan a few trips to see plays! haha

I'm from Norwich, so it's around a four to four and a half hour car journey away! And I hopefully will be studying Primary Education 5-11. Well I wasn't a big theatre fan, but I'm doing drama as an A level and have found a love for it. Aha I will keep you to the offer :P

A big move for you, then! I think it's definitely worth the move though, the university seems absolutely amazing, and seems like a great course choice. Hopefully we'll run into each other on campus! Really looking forward to it. I'm doing drama as an A level, too. Have my performance exam on Tuesday, pretty worried about it.

Where abouts are you from, if you don't mind me asking? I would agree, I looked around the campus and just fell in love with it! Well the course is exactly what I thought teaching would be about, so I'm looking forward to it.

Ooo, is it a devising exam or an already scripted one? Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great! I'm lucky that I've done all my practical drama exams already - I'm normally fairly nervous, but as long as you have prepared, you get so into it, I forgot the audience was there!

I literally want to fast forward to results day and forget A Levels ever happened. The most stressful time in my whole life. I'm so ready for uni.

I've been saying that for so long! I just want them to give me the grades that I need, then I can leave. I chose three coursework based subjects, and I did an EPQ - the teachers said that it was a bad idea before I started, I was a naive GCSE student, they were right.

I began an EPQ at the start of Year 13, but dropped out before my first lesson. I realised that I barely had enough time to study for my A Levels, nevermind completed 50 essays on a topic I hadn't even thought of yet.
Hi! I go to the University and last year my boyfriend lived in Standard halls for the academic year and then Traditional halls for the summer (this is offered). I think its definitely worthwhile paying the bit extra for the standard halls over traditional, because there's only six people sharing a kitchen in standard, and they're much bigger. If you have any specific questions about the halls, or the uni in general, please just give me a shout!

Hi,
I stayed in halls for first and second year. What I found having seen a lot of rooms via friends is that the Evesham rooms were very big compared to the more expensive - these were £89 a week when I was there (2014). The only problem was the kitchen was very small and there was no proper communal area, you also have to share a bathroom - which is okay as long as you aren't sharing with the bloke I did who shaved his entire body :O
Second year, I stayed in Ledbury, which was £109 per week, the rooms were much smaller, and not that different to the cheaper ones in term of what they provided - except they had slightly more storage space. They also had a communal area consisting of sofas, a table and in some, an extra fridge. It all depends on how social you are.
First year, We gathered in peoples bedrooms (as they were so big, all 10 of us could socialise in some) and sometimes went up to the other kitchens as the bottom floor had the smallest kitchen. It worked well and I had a great time, however, you need to get in early when you move in to claim cupboards and fridge space. I also spent time in other friends hall communal areas which you tend to do as you will meet many people who do not live in your hall.
Second year, I didn't really want to hang out with the new undergrads that much as they were very loud and messy - only washed up once a fortnight and the whole communal area was a mess. I rarely hung out in this and stayed in my bedroom or met up with friends elsewhere. I think that the cheaper halls where actually better in my experience but it depends on who your flatmates are and what kind of person you are. First year does not count towards your final grade but you still need to pass - so I guess it depends on whether you want a communal area to party and drink or you are quite happy to socialise elsewhere or stay in.
