Difficult to write history uni essays

Hi,

I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who also struggles writing history essays at uni level? I don't know what it is, but I find it very hard to analyse. My friends tell me to make a very strong point and back it up with evidence and analyse, but I can't seem to grasp that.

I was really hoping History would equip me with these skills to write strong essays, but I still don't seem to "get it".

Does anyone have any tips from taking notes to writing out a strong essay?

Thanks

Googling 'how to write university history essays' will also give you several useful guides, and there's a highly recommended book: Writing History Essays, by I. W. Mabbett.
