Making friends when starting uni

Hey, I'm starting uni in September and was wondering easy it is to make friends at uni - I've got a couple friends in unis nearby but I'm still nervous about making friends in a new uni / city. Especially making a good impression on flatmates (and everyone actually haha).
Any advice would be appriciated.
Thank you

Everyone will be in the same boat so you should be fine. Put yourself out there, join clubs and societies and go in with an open mind.
It's easy to make 'friends' in freshers as most people just want people to go out with. It's after the first few weeks that it gets difficult..

I'll just have to go out a lot then haha
In freshers, the uni, your halls and SU will host events to help you socialise more with people. You’ll get to know your flat mates a lot and your course mates so you should be fine there.

Societies are a great way to meet people who like what you like and aren’t people you see everyday (unless you want to) so you can socialise more.

Just get yourself out there and go outside your comfort zone and you’ll be fine

Thank you, that's reassuring to hear  and I'll do my best
Just wanted to say you're not alone! I'm starting in September and worrying about making friends too. Apparently if you're sharing accommodation a good way to get people talking is to invest in something like a waffle maker, but I'll be living on my own so not applicable for me haha. Best wishes tl you though x

That sounds like a pretty good idea so I'll see what I can do - I think should be able to make lots of friends from the course and any societies as the others said above:smile:
Best wishes to you too!

yes you'll be fine making friends! Some of my greatest friends i met by going up to people in lectures and asking to sit next to them, chatting to people out side lectures, and going to society events. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there because everyone is feeling the same. - Also don't worry if your flatmates aren't your cup of tea, from my experience your better friends are those you chose to hang out with (course friends etc) as its not such a forced relationship like with flatmates

Thank you! That's the same thing a lot of my friends tell me too (I'm on a gap year atm - so they started before me).
