FBI raids office of Trump's Lawyer.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/09/us/politics/fbi-raids-office-of-trumps-longtime-lawyer-michael-cohen.html

"Mr. Ryan said Mr. Cohen has cooperated with authorities and turned over thousands of documents to congressional investigators looking into Russian election meddling.

The payments to Ms. Clifford are only one of many topics being investigated, according to a person briefed on the search. The F.B.I. also seized emails, tax documents and business records, the person said."

Two things to take away here. First, the documents relating to the Stormy Daniels situation will be looked at to see if there was misuse of campaign money.

Secondly, it appears to come partly on the back of a referral by Robert Mueller, who's leading the investigation on Russia's meddling in the election.

Of course, this is all entirely innocent because Trump promised to drain the swamp and he's definitely not corrupt or criminal in any way.

This is beginning to look like the search for Saddam's WMDs, isn't it? Alright, we'll watch this space again but at this rate he won't have to be impeached because the next election will catch up with him. Problem solved. Unless, and horror of horrors...

Erm, no. It looks nothing like the search for Saddam's WMDs.

You're right, it is going to take a long time. It's a shame though he's not getting reelected. He's going to be crushed in the midterms.

I very much doubt that, after all the time and effort spent on the search, anyone can expect any WMDs to be uncovered anymore. Hell, they smoked Saddam out of a hole on the ground. Nah, the outcome is most likely to be just the same as in the quest for RC.

He's going to be crushed in the midterms.

Another bit of information to add - A lot of evidence must be presented to approve a no-knock raid, approved by the deputy attorney general.

Trump has been compromised and he knows it.

You still haven't explained why this can be compared to this investigation. One which has meant the CEO of his campaign is facing life in jail.

Everyone assumes there is something to be found and then... we'll see, whatever will be will be. I'm not bothered.

Does it matter to you whether Trump had an affair with a porn star? Would it make you think any less of him?

The next general election is too far away. Trump needs to be impeached and locked up before he ends up starting a nuclear war with Russia and dragging Britain into it.

Best place for Trump is prison for the sake of mankind.

Doubt he'll start a nuclear war with Russia when he colluded with them to win the election.
Cohen, the lawyer in question, was directly implicated in the Steele Dossier for a number of shady activities.

Most notably, that he met with Russian officials in Prague in to discuss how to pay kremlin-linked hackers for targeting Clinton in the election. Could Trump and co. be responsible for the leaked email scandal that undoubtedly cost Clinton the election?

The Steele dossier has also been corroborated by sources within the USA's dept of justice (though, not them rather independent sources they trust).

If I was a trump supporter i'd be very worried.

Hmm not that loyal tbh.

There's rumours even Paul Ryan may resign. The majority he had in the supreme court has also narrowed (not that that branch of govt is relevant anyway). Beyond that, Trump's just generally an idiot. Less moderate republicans are tired of him making a full out of the party and even the moderate ones are doubtful of his policies. He recently signed a budget that pissed a lot of people off because the democrats played, Obamacare is still going and the wall hasnt been built.

If he loses the house majority then he's screwed. Paul Ryan will definitely leave at that point and he's the 3rd most powerful man in america.

Who says he’s not going to be re-elected? If you look at the statistics, America is booming. He’s doing better at dealing with world situations better than Obama ever did. North Korea are in peace talks, and are willing to get rid of there WMD’s because of trump. He didnt sit on his hand and do nothing like Obama did. There hasn’t been a chemical weapon attack in Syria since the US, UK and France bombed it. If you look at the facts and take personal opinion of the man out of the equation he’s actually a very strong leader

His electorate has no interest in Korea or Syria.

Unless he can deliver real jobs for his heartland he has no chance.

And for that things have stalled.

There hits a point where unemployment will stop falling to prevent inflation rising. Which is a much bigger issue. For the first thing do you have a better source, like the FT or something with credible backing?
