Agree with the other poster - please go to the rescue shelter. Or go to your local vet, who may have a lead on adopting a pet who is now unwanted. Exchanging an animal for money (unless in a shelter) is not a good thing - you do NOT want to be supporting animal cruelty or puppy farming.
If you want a pedigree dog, be prepared to pay a premium and go to a Kennel Club approved breeder. Good luck.

I really don't know I will thoroughly search in my area for shelters however the dogs there are quite old so I was looking more for a website where I can search for the perfect dog although it may seem selfish. I really want a puppy if I look a lot would I even find any puppies?

Do you even know how to look after a dog/puppy? Is it your first dog?

A lot of shelters will take in dogs who are expecting a litter. try RSPCA, blue cross, and as I said, phone up your local vet - they may have a lead that is not advertised. I know that where I live, the vet has helped out various elderly owners (with young dogs) who have gone into care/hospital or have become unable to care for their pets.
The great thing about adopting a pet (a young one, of1-2 years old) is that the character is already developed. They are house broken and you know what you are getting before you take it on. With a puppy, you have to train, socialise, house break it (all work) and you do not know if it will turn out to be an aggressive dog, good with kids, people, other dogs etc.
Please, please, before you go onto Gumtree, investigate how horrible puppy farming is. If you are set on having a puppy, then do it through a vet, or the kennel club. They are good gatekeepers to ensure your puppy is healthy, has not been treated badly, and you are not being robbed. It will be horrible if you buy a pup, find he is sick, spend a lot on vet fees, and then he dies, all because he was bred as part of intensive farming. Spare yourself the heartbreak and make sure you are not supporting animal cruelty.
I would like one below 1 years old above that I won't be that keen on.
I don't mean for this to come across as challenging, but equally, I do think it's important to almost challenge yourself when it comes to pets, to ensure it is a decision that is head and heart, not just heart...Why would you not be keen on a dog older than one? Other than being more well behaved, my currently 4 year old dog (who yes was a rescue) is not really any different to what he was when he was 1.

Thank you I think I will probably be adopting a dog from 1-2 years now I didn't even think about the character of the dog

The main reason is I just want to have it when its growing up which now I don't even know is worth it or not because of the training e.t.c so I do agree
Rescue centres have dogs of all ages. Puppies tend to peak at certain times of the year but even they are there (not for long though and many are in foster care).
If this is your first dog are you sure a puppy is a good idea? If you don't know what you're doing you could screw that dog's life up and your own life up. I strongly suggest considering older dogs, maybe not elderly but dogs don't just come in 'puppy' and 'senior'. Even then, a good elderly dog could be the perfect experience.
I don't think I will be getting a puppy but I'm really scared of getting an elderly dog just because of how long it would take until it would die of age

My dog (family dog) was everyone's first dog and while he wasn't fully trained when we got him (he hadn't been treated very well before), I do think we might have found the very basics like toilet training difficult to do as first time owners. Very few (if any) dogs will be 100% perfect, whether they're rescues, pedigrees, or older dogs, so any dog you get will need some level of training, however, this can be for your enjoyment as well as their benefit as it can really help to make a bond between you and your dog.
I think you have a lot of research to do, but your willingness to learn and listen to advice from others is the most important thing in this, and I can see you have that. When you're doing your research, be careful where you use, as some sources contain really bad information, some of which can (while being branded as training) constitute cruelty.
If you want to ask any questions, I'm happy for you to keep asking here, or even PM me now or at a later date

Thank you very much for your help I appreciate it so much. If I have any questions ill ask
Your young dog could be alive one day and dead the next. I can understand your hesitance, but just remember that all dogs are different and all dogs age differently. An 'elderly' dog could still give you many good years.
If I found an elderly dog I really like I will take it into consideration I'm glad because I wasn't planning on searching for rescue centres and any dogs over 1-2 years so thanks
