GCSE AQA 9-1 Physics Paper 1 Discussion

How did everyone find the paper today?

(I got 1000 ohms for the resistance of the LDR - did anyone else get the same thing?)

Edit: our paper is in the Wikipedia article for "banana equivalent dose"

I thought that it was really easy

Yeah same

How? I don’t remember the details of the question but I don’t think that’s what I got. This is triple higher, right?

That would be true for a series but in this case it wasn't a series as the voltage was not equal. I got 6000 ohms but i think thats wrong. The rest of the paper was easy, however.

Did people get 7.5 for the last question?
What did you guys put for the question asking what would happen to the temperature of the filament bulb when potential difference increases? I struggled on that. Also what was your answer for the last question about speed?

The voltage of the resistor is 12-4=8V and resistance is 2000 ohms so current is 8/2000=0.004A

The current is the same everywhere in series so R=V/I so 4/0.004=1000

What else questions were U stuck on

I lost 3 marks on the current of LDR
2 marks on the resistance Q
3 marks on the directly proportional what happens when power halves question
One mark on a tick box question one

Got the rest of the maths right tho.

7.50 for the last question
0.12kg
13.35 count rate
225000 for
Percentage change like 15. Something percent

First question I said electrons are transferred from the carpet to the socks causing the negative charge as it gains electrons
Then lines inward
Then I said pd between the metal tap (earthed conductor) is at 0V and the sock is charged so there is a pd. if the pd gets big enough air is ionised so electrons can jump across gap for spark to form which causes an electric shock.

The energy transfer question was:
Chemical
Equal to

what do u think grade boundaries will be

The question about circuit was just add ammeter to the left hand side of the original circuit and attach voltmeter around the wire
I thnk i got around 65% to 75%what grade dyu think that is

Voltage is supposed to be different in series it adds up

It was in series. The voltage is not equal in series but the current is.

Grade 8 but u definitely got less than that btw

Depends on grade boundaries - could be anywhere from 6 to 8

What did people get for the current one where the resistance was like 5000

0.0017A, total resistance is 2000+5000=7000 and I=V/R and 12/7000=0.0017
