Masterbating too much?

Could do it up to 4 times a dayto stretch it, usually do i 2 /3 which feels right when home all day like now during study leave and with some motivation can keep to one.

Almost impossible to get to zero since get horny when I get into bed at night...

Am I addicted?

Put simply you could masturbate 10 times a day and as long as it's not impacting negatively on your life it doesn't matter. So the number of times your masturbate is irrelevant - the outcome isn't. Is masturbating impacting on your life negatively? Are you forgetting to eat, doing risky stuff or in pain? If not then it's not a problem.

During life you will have periods with a high sex drive (more masturbation/sex) and periods with a lower sex drive. There are also times when you have more free time to engage in more sexual activity. During adolescence/before you have a full time job you have more time for sexual activity and during the former a strong impetus to engage in it.

'Addicted' has a medical definition which masturbation doesn't meet (never has in any study) - so no you are not addicted. (There is a wider academic debate here but it's not relevant to anything you've described.)

Masturbation/sexual activity has a big pull, which if your new to it is the best feeling in the world and will be put to to top of your body's priority list for... a decade or two or four or eight. Over time you will learn to balance it out.

Masturbation is a positive thing - it's good to learn about your body and love it. This is also powerful knowledge in future romanic relationships. Worrying about masturbation/anything else is not a positive thing.

So enjoy your body, love yourself and don't worry

Whilst people can roll off the benefits of masturbation, many forget that the dopamine released is addictive. That's an issue. To break the addiction, slowly cut down your levels of masturbation from a couple times a day to once a day, then to once every couple days. It'll be hard, for sure. Go cold turkey if you absolutely can. Try and channel your energy into other productive means and try to avoid all occasions of temptation. Good luck.
Rubbish - could you cite your academic source for it being addictive?

On this logic people should stop having sex too and just go cold turkey because it could be more productive for the economy. I suppose people should also avoid other activities that release dopamine, like exercise and eating 'tasty' food.

Clearly you know nothing about addiction, though your efforts and intention are appreciated, you'r wrong. Especially with the growth and accessibility of the internet there has been a growing culture of porn and masturbation addiction. This is a real problem, whether you recognise it or not, it exists. Search NoFap, and you will find a huge community of sufferers sharing their experiences and support. Masturbation can certainly ruin lives. If you wish to see citations, do a google search. Sex addicts exist. Porn addicts exist. Folk describe how their addiction's have taken away self-esteem and confidence, their inability to date, their lack of drive or motivation. Do some research and get your facts together.

Possibly. Search NoFap hopefully you will be able to follow others' experiences and stories to help you form a better understanding, from there you can make a more informed decision or choice on moving forward in your life.

If you cannot go a day without jerking off then that's something that you should address.
Have another look over my post:

"Is masturbating impacting on your life negatively?" - "'Addicted' has a medical definition which masturbation doesn't meet (never has in any study) - so no you are not addicted. (There is a wider academic debate here but it's not relevant to anything you've described.)"

So we are now into the academic debate I alluded to above, which I still don't think is relevant to the original post. I totally agree that some people have real problems with compulsive behaviour around porn and sexual activity. This would be linked to the negative aspect that I did mention in my original post. A teenager worrying that they are masturbating in a way that they perceive could be 'too much' doesn't require such a response.

'Masturbation/porn 'addiction' still doesn't meet the criteria for addiction in any academic study.

Do we need terms to treat people suffering from harmful compulsive behaviour, absolutely and within the psychosexual field we have a growing understanding. I do agree that the ease of accessing pornography via the internet has had a significant impact.

More research is required, however, to examine the causality between pornogrpahy and compulsive behaviour - are some people pre-determined towards compulsive behaviour and it manifests itself in compulsive behaviour around pornography or did pornography create the compulsive behaviour?

To stretch it? Do I want to ask what the hell you're talking about?

You probably just have a high sex drive. I do it between once a day and three times and it doesn't impact my life really. Also there's nothing wrong with rubbing one out when you go to bed. Normal and perfectly healthy.

That movement should be reserved only for people with particularly unhealthy habits that need addressing. We're talking sex addiction therapy, abuse recovery, that sort of thing. The average w*nker doesn't have a problem.

2-3 times a day for someone who's young and full of hormones is completely normal. Don't you dare go perpetuating those pathetic old wives' tales - which were disproven by people who actually know what they're talking about the better part of a century ago.
Masturbation in itself isn't really problem on its own unless you're ignoring important responsibilities in order to make time for beating your meat. High porn usage on the other hand can have a few negative effects.

Just question if your actions seem to be doing you any harm. If you conclude no, chances are you're right so long as you're being honest with yourself. If you decide it is doing harm, then cut down. It doesn't do any real harm that isn't noticeable. You won't suddenly get cancer or something.
when i'm bored I tend to resort to masturbation just cause it makes me feel really good, takes me nothing to orgasm, now it's exam season I don't do it so frequently, tbh I might just go w*nk now as I'm feeling horny

If you're that worried about this then you should type in No fap in the searchbar and go from there...Good luck!
Addiction sparks the implication that one carries a lack of free will and is unable to make an opposing decision. It's easy to repeatedly masterbate, you just need to find other things to do, because it really can ruin your life.

Nofap is in no way a neutral source.

It's a site with highly reductive and negative viewpoint on human sexuality (albeit it well intentioned and reasonable from the viewpoint of its users' experiences/perspectives). While it's certainly a source of opinion with some powerful anecdotal evidence, it is from a population of people who self-identify as individuals with challenges related to their sexual behaviour; it's really not representative of the adult or sexually active population or the views of the medical community.

Honestly, it's like learning about alcohol by visiting alcoholics anonymous.

Not said for the original poster:
People should find support wherever they need or find it - but stay critical and talk to your doctor if you think you have a problem. They can provide expert advice and refer you to a psychosexual therapist as required.

I can’t believe this is one of the “today on TSR” promoted threads.

I am on a journey trying to get rid of masturbation for good. The longest I have not masturbated for is 3 days, but I am trying various methods to go without doing it for longer.
