unsure about the course i've chosen

i like the course i've chosen because its not all computer based work, i couldn't stand doing/wasting 3 years of either business or IT and no practical work but i'm starting to doubt if it's the right one. i really don't care how certain things like cameras work, or other technical stuff, i don't have much of an interest in photography itself either. has anyone here done media level 2? i don't know what other course i'd do though.
From someone that has nearly completed his L3 IT, I would say stay away from IT/Business, you learn a little but mostly the art of rewording text. BTEC Engineering or Applied Sciences would be more useful IMO.
A STEM course would be the best route if your going to do a BTEC, thats just my opinion. As any STEM course would improve your analytical skills and just general thinking capability, there is alot of career prospects and opportunities and there will be alot more, since computers are starting to take over peoples jobs as computers can do it themselves. Im doing Engineering atm, Im enjoying it, but obviously others wont. If you are curious as to how things work, aswell as liking maths and physics, you should go for it as thats what engineering is mainly about.

thank you, yeah i am glad i chose media for level 2 but wish this college would offer more, at another college thats even further for me to go they offer law and travel and tourism, my friend told me good things about both those courses but i dont want to change colleges where i wont know anybody even if they offer more options. at my college they offer science but i'm not sure if its science as a whole or on its own. again i wish they offered more mixed courses for instance they have health and social care but i dont care (pun intended) about that, media is another. i'd love something like physics with astronomy or anything astronomy related for my level 3 or even something music related idk. i wish btec was more like a levels where you dont feel like you've wasted 2 years (of level 3) doing the same as you did in level 2 when you wanted to be able to choose a mixed course, or two different courses like in some unis you can do combined courses which i like the sound of. but if i dont do btec i cant go to uni in the future *sighs*

STEM courses are just any course related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. If you dont like any of these subjects and you want to do a BTEC level 3, the only other common BTEC level 3 courses that most colleges provide are health and social care, business studies, travel and tourism and performing arts.

Some colleges offer some 'rare' courses that most colleges won't offer such as Music Technology Level 3 Diploma which the city of liverpool college offers. I dont know any other colleges in the UK that do this asides from liverpool (there probably is but I havent heard of any). I saw in a reply to someone else's comment that you wouldn't mind doing something music related so maybe try find that course, but bare in mind look into it, as in what are the UCAS points you'll get for doing that course as you may have a limited amount of undergraduate courses you can go to with that sort of qualification. Also I saw that you'd love doing something like physics and astronomy at BTEC level 3, I dont have much insight into BTEC level 3 courses that specialize in physics aswell as astronomy, but depending on the modules and units a college offers, I know for a fact that most Applied Science BTEC level 3 courses cover physics, but only some Applied Science BTEC level 3 courses also cover astronomy.

thanks very much for your help! (i was actually just wondering what applied science was funnily enough hehe) yeah mine doesnt even offer travel and tourism, honestly if i wasnt interested in media i wouldnt even know what i wanted to do tbh, i like the college i'm at it just offers few options for those 2 years, i guess thats why they don't call it higher education because its not university which is much more expensive anyway, its kind of a shame when you think about it, they could offer a lot more but they choose not to. one of my classmates is thinking of not even bothering to come back next year, she's only on her first year as well, i'd at least do one level 2 then see what i wanted to do after that.

also business is the top most popular course at my college so those classes are going to be so mixed with all different kinds of personalities and i just can't fathom how many of those ppl willingly want to, well not waste but not even consider other courses, their time doing 3 full years of business. my friend is doing level 3 business next year (on l2 atm) and he seems to be doing well, he'll have been at college for 5 years same as myself. question about level 3: do you need both maths and english at gcse level to get onto level 3? i am wondering if my friend will be in the same english class next year, he was able to get A* for his maths, where i'll probably just manage a B or C depending. i know you need at least one gcse to move forward. for level 2 you need one maths or english and level 1 and another at level 2 which i have. there's another girl from level 3 business also? who's doing level 2 maths so i assume its possible we could be in the same class.
