Why are majority of songs these days about sex?

So many artists these days use sex to sell their records such as Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj to name a few. Why is it that artists that sing songs about real meaningful things or things other than sex are underrated?

This is the love island generation. Little between the skull, instant gratification, gossip, mundane issues pursued.

Compared to when?
Because Pop and Rap artists and those songs you here on the radio aren't that creative and play to the masses. Start listening to more obscure stuff and you will start hearing much better music. Trust me on this.

Songs have always been about sex.
I know many songs in the past have been about sex as well but I feel that today's **** sex songs over dominate songs that are meaningful today.
Sex sells unfortunately

Ariana Grande is an amazkng singer and would be nice if she didn’t speak about a guy or sing about sex in just one song
This is one of the reason why i love metal music. Majority of them sing about deep meaningful things. Especially in power metal.

I’ve never gotten the interest in metal. To me it just sounds like a load of screaming and hardcore instrument bashing

Lol, I don't know what genre of metal you're listening to then xD

The metal genres I listen to take a lot of skill to play and have powerful vocalists who know how to actually sing. None of that screamo stuff though, that's just terrible imo.
Because that’s all they can sing about to be/stay famous. Tragic really. 😣🙄😒

Humans just like to have, talk about , write about and draw sex.

It's what we do and it is nothing new. The Greeks were at it with thier porn pots.

Idk it’s just from the ones I’ve heard.
Because the entire music industry is still attempting to copy The Queen Madonna of Pop.

It’s strange because a majoriry of their audience are gay yet they’re rapping/singing about straight sex. I haven’t come across any straight guys who listens to Nicki or Ariana because they find their lyrics ‘sexy’ yet every gay guy I know loves them… it doesn’t add up!

Not to mention it’s cheap, there’s no art or deeper meaning to it. Maybe this is why the music industry is doing so bad? I think so.

Too many people think this is something new and that we are a sex driven society. Nah it's always been like that moretime your great grandparents had like 10 kids. All that has changed is the fact that it's explicit now.
