I've got an interview at Cardiff for Podiatry and i'm a little nervous, can anyone give any tips on how to prepare for it/what to expect?

Congratulations! Don't worry, the interviews are quite informal and all the podiatry staff are really really lovely. You'll just need to know the NHS values and go through a couple of bog standard scenarios such

Ok thank you. In regards to NHS values is that just overall or specifically related to podiatry because I can’t find any related specifically to podiatry, the ones I found are more generalised.

Have a look at these, know about these and you'll be fine 🙂

Thank you so much, hope it goes well. Do you think it’s a good career pathway

Hope so! Otherwise I'm training in the wrong career 🤣🤣.
It is definitely the best time to be training as a Pod. It's a profession that has so many opportunities once qualified. You'll have a job as soon as you qualify, if not before. You can choose to work for NHS, yourself, private practice, become a surgeon with a little more training, specialise in so many different things. Definitely a good career choice in the current healthcare situation with diabetes so profound and the bus cutting back...patients need to go somewhere..and that's where we can come in if you choose that route.

It's also a career which can become a very good money maker. 🙂

Haha, what University are you studying at? I’m nervous as some say the course is really intense and say it’s hard to pass the exams etc. I understand I’m looking forward to it.

Money is always a bonus 😜

I'm at Cardiff Met. Year 2.
I'm really terrible at exams (failed all 3 A levels) but believe me, you'll be fine at Cardiff!
The course is intense, I'm not how other unis work but Cardiff is intense up until Christmas then calms down.

Exams, the lecturers are Cardiff really do help and guide you. There are no nasty surprises and we only have 2 end of year exams along with an end of year clinical exam. There a few practical osce exams dotted through the year but again, they're easy.

The exams are certainly not hard to pass at Cardiff as long as you go to The lectures and practical sessions. 🙂

Aww cool, do you enjoy it? I just hope I get accepted into Cardiff, it looks like a good school to train at! Does Cardiff offer dissection of the foot and ankle because I know other schools do but wasn’t sure if Cardiff offered that too?

I do enjoy it. Cardiff is a good school to train at, the courses are small so it becomes like another family. Everyone looks out for each other and there's only a few lecturers too, who are all absolutely lovely and get to know everyone really one. They also support you once you've graduated which is a bonus!

Unfortunately we don't do dissection. Alot of unis are moving away from it now because it's hard to put it into practice because the bodies are dried up.
However we have a fantastic anatomy lecturer and we use alot of modelling, bones and interactive iPad software etc.. our anatomy knowledge was far superior than some from other unis when we were questioned by a leading UK surgeon!

Good Luck with the interview, when is it?

Aww sounds amazing!
Wednesday! In regards to the interview when you said scenarios what ones could they be?
Also thanks for your help.

Fingers crossed for you! Let me know how you get on 🙂.

Scenarios are things such as if you treated someone and they were not happy what would you do?

If someone confided in you and you had concerns for their welfare, what would you do?

Those sorts of things.🙂. Don't worry about the interview. It's quick and honestly you'll be fine 🙂.
Would you be starting in September this year?
It's exciting isn't it!

It was ok, there was a group interview which was a debate about two individual cases. It was to see how you worked as part of a team and how you can form a case for yourself and to show you are non judgemental and don't discriminate. The individual interview was ok. It was basically asking why I wanted to do Podiatry and why Plymouth. I was also asked what I thought the association between anatomy and physiology and the problems of the foot. It was really relaxed and was really lovely. I started last year but SFE didn't sort out the funding in time for me to continue. So they already knew me. I really loved the group last year and the uni is lovely too. Have you an interview for there soon? Good luck xx
