Migrant boat on standby as Italy asks the UK to take it in

Italy has called on the United Kingdom to take in 141 migrants on board a charity-run rescue boat in the Mediterranean, two days after denying safe harbour to the Gibraltar-flagged vessel.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/08/migrant-boat-standby-italy-asks-uk-180813160505338.html We shouldn't, it's criminal to endorse this illegal traffic of human beings.

Maybe the dumbness you exhibit is fake and you're just someone else earning out of it but I doubt it. Do you have shares in the trafficking business or something?

You've already lost the argument by resorting to cheap ad homs and sarcasm. You couldn't even give 1 decent argument. Pathetic.

I don't understand. Why can't Spain, Italy or Malta take them in?
If more countries deny entry to these boats, they'll stop coming. Thousands of migrants are making these dangerous journeys in ramshackle boats because they've been led to believe they will be settled with a house and benefits (and all the European women they can grope) on their arrival.

Turn them down and take in only people with legitimate asylum claims and eventually they'll bugger off.
It's people trafficking still. A charity boat doesn't make a difference. They should be returned to where they came from and the boat sunk.
I would send the navy in, and not to collect them.

By taking them in it just endorses the dangerous use of these boats. The people on these boats should take the legal route many other migrants have already taken to getting into Europe. This is just degrading to the genuine migrants that have had to pass through the legal steps to getting to another country

Yes ....Well said thathat man 👍👍👍👍👍
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is shocked to hear about the reported deaths of 44 desperate migrants and refugees in the Sahara Desert this week - including women and children. Survivor accounts suggest a group of 50 people was on their way to Libya when their truck broke down between the cities of Agadez and Dirkou in the desert in northern Niger, exposing them to extreme heat and lack of drinking water. Only six people could be saved.

Just a sample of what happens in the organized networks of people smugglers, the Sahara is strewn with the bones of victims of it and the Med's sea floor with those of others following the same route. The EU have had a shining beacon planted on the shores from day one and it shows no indications of changing much about it, it has been fomenting the trade in a manner that by now couldn't possibly be interpreted as anything other than wilful. By keeping the door open, the EU are inviting illegal immigration.

We have to accept that allowing illegal immigration is facilitating and encouraging it, that is the policy in real terms and all it does to the world. By all means, if you want the world to come and live with us find or form a party that makes it a stated aim and the day 'the people' decide, by rule of the majority, that we ought to have it... at least make it possible for migrants to come in without having to resort to such means. How can anyone call for a perpetuation of this state of affairs?

If Germany want to take in 'a million refugees' they should do it by facilitating their transportation from one of the many camps where they are and do it in the open, why wouldn't they? Instead, they announce to the world that if they manage to find their way to the German border by whatever means they see fit... they're more than welcome. As long as they find someone they can pay to be sent on a trek across the waters and all forms of landscape, trampling over borders and making any notion of controlled movement of people redundant... great.

If everyone was immediately sent back from the beginning, the crisis would never get so big, and it would be ending right now.

That's the thing, doing nothing can be a way of doing something when faced with a situation. Merkel's policy of inaction towards the situation on the EU's shores and what it has been doing to those countries may be partially explained by German post-20th century guilt but Italy has shown the way already, even if they had to act on their own. This is either a crafty ploy by some groups of interests or complete chaos and total anarchy.

And ironically, this German policy has made more than anyone the bring the Nazis back to the European political mainstream. If not in Germany, then in many places elsewhere.
What is the reasoning here, that the boat had a Gibraltan flag handy so they are automatically Gibraltar's (and hence the UK's) responsibility? Fly a USA flag and see how that works for you.
Personally .... the only way of dealing with this crisis is by doing nothing . Eventually the message will get back to them that the EU is full and they're not needed .
Just tow them back to where they started. Safe, humane, fair and they'd soon get fed up trying.
I would rather this boat is used as target practice for the Royal Navy.

Yes I'm sure people really make these journeys at risk of drowning just so that they can get benefits.Really? Somebody's been reading too much Daily Mail. Couldn't possibly be that they are fleeing death and war zones and tyrranical dictators could it? Its always about the benefits. Most of them do have legitimate asylum claims that's why they are called refugees.

Merkel's policy of inaction? Remember Syria!
If immigration consisted only of refugees from Syria there would be no problem whatsoever with anything.

Only 20% of the migrants or less actually come from Syria.
