I am still thinking about it. What are your reasons for choosing Brampton over NCS?

personally i thought the teachers were better at brampton when i visited on taster day and i really just had a feeling that i should go to brampton. also tbh, i really did not like the headteacher in ncs and the taster day in ncs was pretty average despite the school making themselves seem so amazing, so ig i was kind of biased.

Ahh same here I also think the teaching is better at Brampton. They have normal classroom style lessons so it is interactive and helpful. However at NCS they do lecture style lessons similar to uni so it's not very interactive (or so I've heard). I do not like their headteacher too because apparently he favouritses a lot and gives special opportunities to the same people. It's clear he favouritises from the start because there was a long queue but he just happened to be looking at my results while i was filling out my form and he pushed me to the front of the queue. I want to go to NCS since they specialise in science and maths and they have a lot of lectures and workshops for science and maths students but then again it is very strict and competitive over there so I dont like the environment. Brampton seems all-rounded and has a friendlier and supportive environment imo but they make you do 4 a levels and I dont want to do that. But then again, they kept AS levels so I can drop it after a year. Im torn between these two places.

Sorry for the long post but these are my two cents.

no no it’s fine, it’s pretty interesting to read and we share the same views. the thing is in ncs there are waaaaay more opportunities compared to brampton, idk if that was worth giving up for brampton. but i agree, brampton has a much friendlier environment, in ncs there was just the vibe there’s always competition and i can’t deal with that everyday. also, doesn’t ncs make you do 4 a levels too for the first year, and drop 1 in the second year? but fr, i’m still contemplating if brampton is the choice, ig i’ll have to see when i start in september.

I think it's up to you whether you can do 3 or 4 a levels in NCS. I only said 3 a levels I wanted to study at enrolment day and they were fine with it. If you do 4 though, you can't drop it after a year because there are no AS levels in NCS. You will have to do 4 a levels throughout the two years. You can only drop it if you get below a C in that course by the end of Y12. I say "can", but they will force you to drop it anyway. Same goes with 3 a levels, if you get below a C in any of them you will be forced to drop it. Obviously only doing 1 or 2 a levels is not good enough for uni so you have no choice but to move to a college and start all over again. Thats why im sort of scared to go to NCS because thats really harsh. They kick you out for other reasons too like missing a few days. There was a student who got kicked out because they took a medical leave.

On the other hand, Brampton does these things too except they dont tell you. NCS inform you with a student guide booklet. They dont keep their harshness a secret. So for that reason, i feel like I would be better off at NCS anyway as they will be sort of similar to Brampton.
I feel like the more I read about the experiences of students at NCS/Brampton, the more confused I become. They both have pros and cons but in different areas and the thing is I'm unsure of what I want which is why I'm so indecisive.

I go to the Brampton secondary and trust me babe, no one wants to go to the Brampton sixth form. My cousin went and she dropped out to go ncs because the teachers there feed you the answers. That’s how we’re passing, we get baby fed the answers. No one tells you this because Dr. Olakuuuushi once made us redo the exact same science papers, with the answers given, so that the records looked good and the school didn’t look bad. Yeah, students get great grades but bro, my friends in the sixth form had daily counselling last year because it was too late to change schools.

Wow, seems like both sixth forms lack in pastoral care and focus too much on results and stats. Looks like I'm f***** either way haha.

Then NCS is my only choice. I'm terrified tbh, I wish I just enrolled at a normal sixth form instead of these oxbridge student manufacturers.

lol seeing the other brampton students comments, i’m guessing you’re choosing ncs
I know quite a few people who currently go to NCS/LAE/Brampton and they've all said their sixth forms are so good. But then I have to consider that the reason why their experiences are so jolly is because they have the perfect mindset and character for these sixth forms: competitive and willing to sacrifice their social life and mental health for good grades.

I am nothing like those "perfect" students, so I don't know if I will cope. I'm just really lazy; I procrastinated throughout the whole of secondary school then pulled my socks up the week before GCSEs lol. Low grade boundaries allowed me to get into these places.

Oh well, at this point we all HAVE to work our a**** off at A Level anyway, regardless of which sixth form or college we go to. Gotta get into them Russel Group unis ygm :cry2:
