Do you have any pets?

I have two rescue dogs - one black labrador x German Shepherd dog called Kiwi, and a flat coated retriever mix ***** called Tilly
I have four guinea pigs (two rescues) - A (somewhat) long haired agouti neutered boar called Dexter, a pink eyed white sow called Popcorn, a tortoiseshell sow called Poppet, and a brown and white sow called Honey.
I also have 6 hermit crabs (Big J, Georgie, Victor/Victoria, Pepi, Unnamed 1, Unnamed 2) and some fish (160 litre tropical community tank, and a koi and goldfish pond)

@OrangeArcher

do you use trello or onenote or paperback for planning schedule?

I don't really plan a schedule, although I have tried before and find that a) I'm awful at figuring out how long something will take me to do, and b) I never stick to schedules as I'm not always in the mood to do certain subjects (even if I have planned to do them).

I printed out a calendar to make sure that I had all the work experience planned correctly but that's about it really

Try Trello, instead of plan everything down to detail, keep it general like "To do", "Doing", "Done"

I'll have a look into it, thank you

I used to really like horses and elephants but I think guinea pigs are probably my favourite animals. What are your pets called? Do you have a favourite animal? Finally, are you at vet school or in the process of applying to vet school?

I have a rabbit called bear (agouti coloured) and 2 guinea pigs (both are called Felicia...-one ginger and white and the other one is black and white-they both have ruby eyes). My favourite animals are rabbits :colondollar: Im not applying to vet or at vet school, but I find your gyg very interesting to read..thought my username gave away my aspiration :colondollar:
Unrelated question but do you think students trying to apply for medical schools are always being really serious?

Your rabbit and guinea pigs sound cute . I misread MRCS as MRCVS (the vet equivalent) so I'm sorry about that :colondollar:. I'll rephrase that question, are you applying to med school or are you already at med school?

I can sympathise with the pain of university applications for such a competitive course . I'm just wondering, but what GCSE grades did you get? Which universities are you thinking of applying to? And, do you have any work experience?

My school is being very stingy with predicted grades, even though I think I can do it.. I got 2 grades 8s 1 grade 7 8 A*s and 1C grade (art).I would love to go to Imperial the most,KCL,Bristol or Nottingham or maybe UCL-not sure yet,but Ill be happy to go anywhere-but Imperial would be the dream.I did 1 week in haematology,1 week paediatric plastic surgery,a day in Maxfax and a week in neurosurgery.I did some volunteering in care home and will start volunteering in a hospital this September. You did so much work experience,Im not sure how you managed to keep on top of your a-levels at the same time-very admirable!:h:
Hey! Best of luck with your application, you sound really passionate and that will come through in your application! Try not to worry, when you want something badly enough it usually works out x

Your grades are so good! I genuinely have no idea how I survived year 12 having completed majority of my work experience during that time but I am thankful to have realised that I took far too much on last year so it will just be me focusing on my 3 A-levels this year. Have you enjoyed your work experience?

Thank you . I'm hoping it will work out but if it's not meant to be then I can't really change it (apart from resit/reapply)
Good luck!!!

They're alright I guess :colondollar:I really enjoyed doing work experience,I absolutely love walking down those hospital corridors!I enjoy doing work experience in surgery the most because I got to wear scrubs :colondollar: (they're so comfortable-it feels like you're wearing pyjamas!!)I loved going on ward rounds and seeing the patients and learning a bit more about different diseases and disorders.I liked talking to the doctors and getting a better outlook on the reality of a career in medicine.Work experience made me even more determined to do medicine!I enjoyed watching surgery a lot, even thought it meant I had to stand up for many hours sometimes :colondollar: How did you find your work experience, which one did you enjoy the most?

It sounds like you'll really enjoy studying medicine . I thoroughly enjoyed all of my work experience, even the times where I spent 4+ hours poo picking fields at the equestrian centre. I absolutely loved working with vets to help get samples whilst they used the endoscope and I really enjoy surgery, consultations and just the overall feel of being in a veterinary practice. I think my favourite short term placements were a small animal hospital (that was part of a mixed practice but had separated into different categories e.g. small, equine, farm, pig.) and being at an equine hospital as I enjoyed how modern and specialised they were.

I think I would really enjoy doing medicine too,I hope things work out grade wise though :/4+ hours that is a really long time-that is definitely determination  I'm glad you enjoyed your work experience! Are you doing anymore whilst in A2?

I'm sure you will get an offer, your grades and work experience are amazing. I will be continuing work experience at the dairy farm on a Saturday and volunteering at Blue Cross on a Sunday until I get my university application in and then I think I'm going to stop. I will continue to go to the mixed practice that I've been going to for 3 and a half years on a Friday after school/sixth form as they said they will help me with mock interviews etc. I may go and do a bit more lambing (I loved that placement) for a day or two but other than that I am going to focus all my energy on a-levels and trying to get at least 2A*s and an A. Will you just be volunteering at the hospital?
