Return of Social media WTF HAPPENED?

remember when social media ALLOWED you to be SOCIAL?

remember chatterbox- a chat room where you log in and it is a live chat where so many people across uk can chat to each other and you could also create private chats with an individual [the real way to get to know someone without group influences[

remember when people used to join online forums because THEY WANTED TO not because other people in real life were doing it ?

remember when people used to make friends with other people ONLINE and not use terms like 'sliding into someones DM' for a simple hi or query?

remember online games that was for anyone into playing games and 'nerds/geeks' used to do it mainly, rather than people calling themselves nerds/geek nowadays because they do it..

remember when certain groups of people were into gaming/manga and not everyone was into gaming/manga [seems now everyone is into it]

remember when INSTAGRAM was chronilogically organised so you could search by recent posts of people and discover things, then share things you discovered, get inspired, learn, communicate, adapt ?

now instagram uses ALOGarithm [aka a spreadsheet of popularity to PRESENT what you 'apparently like' though its FORCED ON YOU and not freewill]

remmeber when you were able to chat with people on instagram twitter and SNAPCHAT for merely complimenting them, asking them questions, or anything else you didnt want to say publicly ?

JUST REMEMBER when instagram wasn't a popularity game and it was enjoyable to live your hobby how YOU wanted to live it..and anyone could become famous/be found

REMEMBER WHEN YOUTUBE allowed viewers to private message? Give video responses? reply to comments that were in CHRONILOGICAL ORDER ALREADY BY DEFAULT so you can easily search and communicate with like minded people

Within 10 years things have changed so much...bring back 2011

Yeah, this is something I'm not quite past. If I talk to somebody via PM it means nothing over and above we are talking via PM, in the same way I might go off in the pub and talk to someone on their own.

The shift to sleaze (or the assumption of it) simply for replying to a PM is something that it has taken me some time to get to grips with.

I agree with you on that, what a shock that is. I have to now assume everyone likes me 🤔 no thanks.
