Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

The History and journalism and creative writing course allows you to get a BA degree from the university.

If you wish to do a History degree you will study 19th Century and 20th Century Britain in your first year. The second year courses focus on national history classes. In the third and fourth year of the degree, you have the opportunity to choose from a range of classes. In the final year you will do an Honours dissertation, further subjects and choose a specialist subject.

The Journalism and Creative Writing allows students to study both areas of writing in years one to three of their degree. In your fourth year you'll have the chance to prepare a portfolio. You can take advanced Honours taught classes in journalism or creative writing. There is also an opportunity for you to choose to do a research based dissertation or a special project on a relevant topic.

Newspaper Editors are keen for journalism students to work on different projects during the summer e.g. communications division of the Scottish Government. Placements are not compulsory but they will give you a good opportunity to get some experience in your field.

If you have any more questions then feel free to DM me or post on here. Any more questions then just ask!

Hi,

The History (BA Honours) and Journalism and Creative Writing (BA Joint Honours) are separate degrees. However, you will have the opportunity to study History with Journalism and Creative Writing- UCAS course code VP15 and gain a joint honours when you finish your degree. If you would like a 2019 undergraduate prospectus then we can send one out to your school?

Hope this helps- any other questions then feel free to get in touch!

Hi thank you for getting back to me, I checked the website late last week and the degree that had been ‘History, Journalism and Creative Writing’ is now ‘History, Journalism and Media Communications’ so that’s why I queried it.
