Apprenticeship or degree?

I really want to know if employers actually care whether u have a degree or not. Is it just better to start AAT/ACA exams rather do a degree. Will a degree take me further and help me towards gaining the top jobs in the accounting industry.
You can get a degree via an apprenticeship, though?

This is why it helps to do a bit more research on the subject, which you appear to be doing here, so that's good.

Qup is right, you can get accountancy degree apprenticeships with many companies now (and some of these will also enable you to become a fully chartered accountant). The big 4 consultancy firms (EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC) do accountancy apprenticeships as well as many other big and small companies, not always just accounting firms.
