A-Level Choices :( or :)

Hey guys, I'm going to start applying for colleges and on the form, I'm supposed to choose about 3-4 subjects to study at AS Level. I know it's a bit early to start making decisions, but I'm planning to apply to an extremely competitive college in my country, so I'm going to need all the time I can get! I'm aiming to study Medicine as an undergraduate, so I'm wondering if these potential choices could benefit me, or perhaps drag my application down. The choices are listed below, thanks for reading!

Choice 1: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology
Choice 2: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths
Choice 3: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Law
Choice 4: Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology
Choice 5: Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Law

Any and all advice would be thoroughly appreciated. For those of you who are interested, I would like to study law as I hope to have a political impact on the perspective/ viewpoint of medicine in the future + I really like expressing opinions. Have a great day y'all.

They will be most interested in your GCSE predicted/ results and or an entrance exam.

I like your setting out of the permutations. Medicine is about Bio and Chem then any other to get the grades, so all your combinations are fine.
I tend to think maths is the most powerful single subject, but youd need to look at whether you might want to go a physics or maths way.

A level law is not essential by any means, what you really need are the best grades.

That means for most options I would choose 2

If medicine was the only stem I was doing, then the third and fourth become what would I enjoy and can get the highest grade in?
Presumably you want to do Law for a fun subject, although its not needed.

That would reduce you to options 3 and 5? So a toss up between maths and physics. I would probably choose maths for opening more doors. That gets you to option 5 if you insist on doing law and 2 if not. Think that makes sense.

I would choose option 2 for what you want to do. A level maths can go a long way and it will generally help you with your sciences

as long as youre doing bio chem and maths (which is the most common a level choices for medicine) it doesnt matter so as the 4th subject do the thing you enjoy the most out of ur choices

I'm in Yr 11 too and deciding my A-Levels, I briefly considered doing Law but everyone told me that it's crap as it bares no resemblance to any other law qualification, so I would highly recommend not taking it.

It really just depends on which subjects you will do well in. I would say law because you seems really interested in it, and maths because it makes chem and bio easier, so option 5.

Definitely option 2

2. I'm not sure that A Level Law will tell you much about public health policy which is what you'd need to be engaged with to make an impact on that front. There might be courses offered at your university as an undergradaute or as a graduate student if this is the path you'd like to pursue.

I personally like Choice 2. It's essentially Triple Science and Maths, where both come in handy for your Medicine degree, albeit not too much for the latter, so you could just do the former 3 if you decide that the workload is more manageable that way as it's better to get the best grades. You also have plenty of opportunities and flexibility, should you wish to specialise or choose another coveted university course, because they are all academically rigorous subjects as it is and well respected by universities, which will be just right for your current goals.

Law however, I feel it's beneficial to those that want to study Humanities or Social Sciences, which may not really correlate with your ambitions. Even so, I don't think that health practices will expect you to have an advanced knowledge of the legal frameworks when you're still a junior, they would rather that their applicant is hard-working and willing to learn, where they will give you on-the-job training and other hands-on development opportunities for that anyway.

If you know that Psychology is definitely what you want to go into in the future, then pick Choice 1 over 2 because you'll get an edge over other Medicine graduates looking for Psychology internships or entry-level positions, since you've done this at A-Level.
