Given the failures of every country that has attempted to set up true successful communist state, do you not think that the ideals of marxism are impossible to establish in the real world due to the inherent selfish nature of people?

People in this country like to own things. I accept that. But if you look at it - the only reason Marxist/communist states haven't succeeded is because of Western intervention. But then there are cases like Vietnam, where the US got their asses kicked. I don't support Stalinism or full communism, but I do support socialism/Marxism. I am more of a Marxist/Socialist libertarian. I think marx was so true and what he wrote 100 odd years ago is still so relevant and true today

Given the growth of the middle class after Marx was writing, how would you fit his narrative of only two classes of people (bourgeoisie and proletariat) in today’s society?
I'm sorry you've got no brain.

Marx was one of the most influential thinkers of the last couple of centuries. I agree that he got many things wrong, but we certainly shouldn’t dismiss Marxism for being intellectually incoherent.

You are right, the petty bourgeoisie has grown, but we have a situation where that line is becoming thinner, I think, although we have got better since the Obligarchs and Tsars pre 1917, at least in Russia,. The proletariat today however are different to the one before. We have a situation where they are unmotivated, will not vote, and seem destined to continue how they are. It sees that on the left in the Labour paty the petty bourgeousie (or in this case, the liberal elite), are exploiting the real proletariat for the sakes of promoting social justice, something that the proletariat (I'm talking about the working class Brexit voters etc) are not interested in.

Labour is a party that was once for the proletariat, and while Corbyn claims to be for the many, not the few, half of Labour's members were privately educated and are middle class. We need a new party.

Marxists worship his ideas as if he's the prophet of a religion rather than an intellectual figure dealing in truth and reason. He himself predicted that Western Europe would succumb to socialist revolution and this did not happen ergo his theories are wrong, but further than this each and every time his theories have been tried, they have lead to starvation and tyranny and each time you dismiss this as a failure of humans rather than a failure of Marxism, this itself reminds me of delusional Christians and Muslims who say their religion is perfect, but the followers are not. No, you just follow a dead system for dead minds.

People in this country are keen to forget that a Socialist Revolution nearly DID HAPPEN - 1919, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N0ZBVPZ/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1. Not a huge amount on it, watched a very interesting doc on it a while back. The west is so scared of communism because it has the ability to get masses of people together united against capitalism

Amazon is a capitalist enterprise selling books sold for a profit, perhaps you could argue your point without resorting to using the fruits of capitalism, that is if the system you advocate is so great.

For such a great system you don't seem to have anything you've managed to produce.

It's unrealistic to expect in the modern day for people to submit to completely erasing any trace of capitalism. Very well https://www.marxist.com/1919-britain-on-the-brink-of-revolution.htm

The public won't want full communism because generally people like to own things. However when a large number of people are desperate for change they may accidentally submit to more extreme forms of socialism. The end goal of socialism is communism. I think if state control was imposed over some companies and obviously schools and railways, I think people in this country would be happy with that
