Do you have a back-end web service running? (e.g. in PHP, Java or Python?) Each of the back-end languages has a slightly different way of talking to databases, and sometimes it can change depending on the type of database too. (e.g. MySQL or SQL Server may work slightly differently to each other),

Aside from that, the best approach would be to search google for some examples in whatever back-end language you're using, and try to work with those. Typically there'll be a step to open a connection to a database, and then another step which executes a query to retrieve some data.

Have not tried any yet...just finished the website guitar but now it's to link it with database and am trying want server for trial

www.digitalocean.com sells hosting for like £3 a month. I use it all the time.
