Which have you eliminated so far?

I have eliminated A and B

Good.
As per the other thread you have posted, what does the bromine water test tell you? Would this compund give a positive response (decolourisation) or not?

Is the false answer C?
If you remember that bromine is orange, and when an alkene (double bond) is present, it will decolourise and the bromine will be substituted into the double bonds.

Does the compound have a double bond?

@TutorsChemistry I hope I'm right as well :biggrin: Gotta get my revision done XD

It is an organic acid anion so would undergo reduction.

It does have a double bond, so would decolurise bromine.

Let's have a closer look at A. Did anyone draw out the structure?

I did. Do I get a sticker?

Top of the class.

Hopefully you also concluded the compound can't display geometric isomerism?
I'm so confused which answer from a-d is false???

I make it A.
CH2=CH(CH3)COOCH3

can't have geometric isomers as there are two groups (H-atoms) the same on one carbon of the double bond ...
