Aeronautical engineering

is it a good plan to take this degree?

If you want to work in the aviation industry afterwards, then sure.

If you want to be a tree surgeon, then maybe not.
As long as you are aware that there are more graduates than vacancies in this sector. Simply having a good degree + extracurriculars and work experience is not enough to secure employment.

what other types of engineering would you guys recommend studying?

Depends what you want to do. The degree itself isn't the plan. The plan is the life after the degree.

Probably civil, chemical or electrical are better choices based on a few people I know who studied those.
If you want the most versatile form of engineering, it would be mechanical (and general engineering of course).

Mech in same boat as aero unfortunately. Lots of competition for jobs

Yet you recommended chemical which is the most oversaturated engineering discipline? There is lots of competition for all engineering disciplines.
I'd say if you take the right aero degree then you can have much broader prospects than any mechanical degree. There are a few out there which are mechanical/electrical splits and I've seen many people go into both industries from aero.
As above, what do you want to do career-wise, OP?

Some type of engineering, any advice is sorely welcome!

But what interests *you*? The main types of engineering are: mechanical, chemical, civil, electrical... which of those areas do you like?

And if you don't yet know then you can consider a course that starts "general" and lets you specialise later, or just do mechanical as that's the most general anyway.

Are you into cars? Bikes? Airplanes? Maths? Designing? Electronics? Robotics? Something else? What got you to consider a degree in engineering in the first place?

Airplanes

Then aero is a good degree...

I'm not sure why this is difficult?
