HMV go into administration for the 2nd time in 6 years

I'm amazed it's lasted this long tbh.

I have no sympathy for businesses like this who had all the tools at their disposal but failed to adapt to the demands of their customers. All the usual tired cliches about Brexit and Amazon will come out but they fail to acknowledge the main reason why it's in trouble - physical media is now a niche interest.

So is business. You have to be competitive to stand a chance I should know since I study this sort of thing. One less competitor on the market who failed to adapt. Next.

Therein lies the reason people are sad about this. People are nostalgic for a time that has now passed where HMV was relevant. That's why they have such brand loyalty and will not hear criticism against it because they have memories involving the store.
A company is a trademark a logo a load of investors and whatever else, it does not have feelings. I feel sorry for the workers who will lose their jobs but that's it. A company is like a breed , artificial and can easily be replaced or remade. It is unlike a species which once it's gone it's gone and nothing will fill the hole.

People are sad because they can no longer buy vinyl in shops.

You could easily buy online but you won't because you have loyalty to the high street . The majority of people buy online. A shop can't sustain itself on a few people that happen to like buying in person. Majority rules.

I am currently in the middle of writing a report about bike markets so perhaps that is why I feel no sympathy for HMV. If a 20 year old undergrad can have some sort of grasp of all of this (realistically anyone can I mean it's common sense is it not) then there is no reason why some highly paid CEOs cannot do the same

indeed and I feel more brands going to collaspe, especially after Toys r us and maplins. I suppose its down to sector struggles.

I don't buy from amazon. I have bought from Ebay before if I'm looking for a particular record.
