A-Level Design and Technology Study Group 2019


Welcome to TSR's study group for A-level Design and Technology!


Whether you study graphics, textiles, product design or food, whichever exam board you're using, here you can discuss DT revision, notes, exams and any questions/confusion/random ideas you might have.

A good thing to do if you are stuck on something, for example the process of injection moulding, is to simply type 'injection moulding process' into youtube. This allows you to see the process and this makes it easier to understand for a lot of people rather than just simply reading about it

House Rules:
Please be friendly and supportive, no arguments please! Please no sharing of offsite personal media - this includes setting up offsite groupchats on whatsapp etc as this is a safeguarding issue. Please dont use this thread to ask for answers in order to cheat in mocks, mocks are there for a reason, practise pushing yourself under exam conditions. Have a think about if you have actually tried to solve the question yourself before posting the question here!

Good luck everyone :grouphugs: i am a second year undergrad product design student so if anyone needs any help please feel free to tag me and i'll try my best to answer. For transparency my specialism is product design as I did this and art at a-level and GCSE as well as art so i may be unable to help with electronics/food etc but the point of this thread is to all help each other so im sure someone will be able to answer your query :smile:

Why did you decide to DT?: During GCSE, Graphic Design was my favourite subject so I thought "why not take this to A-Level?". Also, my teacher recommended it to me as I was struggling with college choices.
Which topic do you enjoy the most/are you looking forward to most?: Rather than which topic, I can say which designer I enjoyed responding to in the projects. I enjoyed responding to Alex Williamson the most.

Currently taking OCR Graphic Design in Year 13. I have a deadline tomorrow and should be starting my exam set task next week!:tongue:

Welcome to the study group :awesome:
Currently in Year 13 studying OCR Design and Technology (Product Design) H004-H006, H404-H406. The entire course has been a shambles - no resources, no past papers, no textbook until halfway through the course. Teachers have no idea what they are meant to be teaching. Had the internal deadline for my coursework today, and it has been a massive rush. Anyone had this experience/is struggling with the course?

Hi i’m in the same boat as you! We just had a mock on the paper 2 (problem solving) with all of us getting D-F. Im aiming towards an A but so unsure how thats going to happen when theres no resources. I found that paper 2 is VERY subjective and tricky

Hi, anyone doing the A2 edexcel course here?
Hey doing my exam in 2 weeks and since there lack of resources for dt aqa I was wondering what people think grade boundarues for paper 1 and paper 2 would be ?
I thinking 70 for 1st paper and 60 for second paper ?
