Cambridge vs Oxford

I would love to study law at cambridge or oxford if I got the chance, but I would would also like to enjoy the full, fun college experience. Which do you think that I should choose, if I wanted to enjoy it but still get the best grades possible?

I definitely advise you to go for the oxford option if your grades are top notch and you think you have a good chance of getting in. It will benefit you long term and I’m sure you’ll find people at Oxford who want to have fun too. I was wondering what your grades look like if you want to get into Oxbridge?

If your criteria is having a “full, fun college experience” then either—and in fact any—university will do. The social scene is pretty similar in both unis (though cambs is a smaller city). What social experience you have is completely dependent on your personality and how much you make of your time there.

That being said, I’ve applied for cambs so if you want a solid option, ditch oxford :wink:

That was clearly not what I was saying. I said that, in my opinion, Oxford would be better in the long run and the question regarded having fun so I mentioned that I’m sure people at Oxford have fun. That doesn’t mean Cambridge students aren’t capable of enjoying themselves.

Because of basic facts. Oxford ranks higher than Cambridge so, therefore, is more appealing to employers.

Cambridge students are well known for being the socially awkward type (they stay in doors all day and ponder about the universe rather than actually live in it).

Oxford is the best, where the future leaders of the world go to study. The choice is clear.

Focus on GCSE's now. Do well on them and then start considering which unis/subject you want to study. Both are great unis and both would be "fun" and would give you a great social life.

Cambridge is clearly better lol. Just look at the courses and see which one is more appealing to you. Depending your accademic path you might have a better chance at one or the other as they asess candidates in different ways. For example got a friend with relatively low ums in some of his a-level maths options but he got an offer for oxford physics but oxford don't look at ums scores where as cambridge do. However for certain subjects oxford place more emphasis on the admissions test. I imagine the experience is fairly similar at both as well as employment prospects.

Imo don’t bother taking it from other people’s mouths. You have plenty of time so I’d advise attending both open days and doing some research to make your mind up for yourself. Both Oxford and Cambridge make you work harder than many other unis, so one could expect to have marginally less time for socialising, but people definitely have lots of fun at both.
