Duke of Edinburgh involved in car accident

Apparently it was near Sandringham.

But he didn't require medical attention.

That was at some speed, let's hope he wasn't p****d. Do the Royals get tested for drink and drugs like us commoners?

I don't believe they are exempt from the law, but maybe technically the Queen is.:dontknow:
If they did bad stuff it'd either get covered up or blow up by the press, if the latter then somebody Royal would suffer with a removal from their position in sacrifice to the republic.TM

I'd thought nothing of it but now that we do... we can wonder if he was tested by the police, what the result could have been, whether that would have been leaked to the media, whether all photos and filming by bystanders would have been confiscated. This one wasn't, we know that. Ran out of charge, perhaps. Who cares, he's a living legend and it's hard to see anyone persuading the old dragon to blow the damn thing anyway..

both drivers were tested by the police at the scene for drugs/alcohol. all tests were negative.
He shouldn't have been driving, very selfish of him, he was very lucky the small child in the back of the other car wasn't seriously injured.
Man survives car crash. Why is this news? This is very common. Two women were actually injured, but people are more interested in the man who is uninjured.

He's royalty you muppet. If Kim Kardashian was involved in an accident and a homeless man was injured, would you be interested in the story of a homeless man being injured, or in one of the highest profile celebrities being involved in an accident?

Why was he driving on his own? Shouldn't he have some royal escort or at least a bodyguard with him? :iiam:

I know right? The world just isn't a safe place for white men to be reckless drivers anymore. Such sad times.:emo:

90+ year olds shouldn’t be driving, royal or not. We should introduce retesting at 70 (if not already in place)

He was given a breathalyser test, however I’m not up to speed on the results.

Perhaps that could be your next bill in the Model House of Commons?

At the moment I don't believe we have retesting, you only have to re-apply for your licence at 70 and declare all current medical stuff. If they declare you as medically fit to drive on public roads then there's no reason why you can't if you've done a driving test at some point.

I agree with that, I get called ageist a lot when saying such, but really it’s just a matter of a public safety concern, I’ve had experience with the elderly driving, my grandfather has trouble with his left eye, yet he still drives, numerous times he’s been told by my relatives that his driving is quite reckless, I would definitely go for that.
