I am hindu, indian and 18 year old. my story

the purpose of this thread is to get all those problems off of my chest. I am sorry if my story will make you feel sad.

when I was 17, I got raped by my cousin. I told my family and his family. I wanted to tell the police too but my parents stopped me, they forced me not to tell the police. then when I reached age of 18 my rapist said he wants to marry me and my parents liked the idea, because no one will marry a non virgin or a girl that got raped according to them. and because they felt/thought I will bring shame for them and because my father didnt want to lose his image in public.

without me knowing anything about their plan, they took me to my grandparents house in a village , they made me marry him.

i have been married for around 6 months, i stopped education, i dont work, i dont go out, i just stay home. my rapist still rapes me when wants and today i found out i am pregnant.

i wish i had the power to kill them all.

I'm really sorry to hear this. You might be able to claim asylum in the UK, as you fear persecution.

its India bro. No such thing. Everyone goes by culture. If a womans raped they blame the woman. That she doesnt dress properly nd stuff. They are bloody ancient idiots.

I hear you. But I would've thought with an increase in women highlighting such cases and proresting, someone may have thought it a good idea to start some kind of refuge.

I am sorry to hear this. That's horrible that's happened to you. As this is a student forum, this isn't the best place to find out whether you would be able to claim asylum in the UK. This website may provide you with better information on claiming asylum.

its diffuclt to help women with rapes or divorces in india as its considered to be a big shame, people dont want to get involved with girls like me because of culture pressure.

I live in a town, people know each others moves, its hard to do anything.
