Why are the BBC twisting words ?
Matt Hancock didnt use the word ban and I don't see how it can be interpreted that way, he said we must legislate.

They still haven't managed to implement that porn age restriction legislation which was supposed to be enforced in April last year.
The feeling behind this is right. Suicidal things shouldn't be exposed to young children and shouldn't be that easily accessible. It's how I learnt all the methods to kill myself when I was young too. Either social media is more strict about their content or they face the consequence of being banned. No one cares about the fact that people use these things to kill themselves but banning they might care about. We have our priorities right.

Right, i just watched the video, i thought the articles were supposed to summarize it all. But I'm interpreting his words differently, he says parliament has that sanction. I still think its the conservatives not understanding the root of the problem as usual though.

Conservatives never understand, they just blame technology because they don't understand it. It is a much easier scapegoat than "we cut mental health services to the bone".

Because that is what it means, essentially. You "legislate" everything away that you don't like and voila, sheep like you can call it "legislation" instead of a ban.
A lot of facebook's content reports are reviewed by actual humans, so one could be forgiven if they're a bit slow on getting through their images of violence, suicide, abuse and other general nasty on the daily.
It's a bit of a shame that MPs don't bother to do any research on tech stuff before they go ham on arguing about it.

I mean... no. There's very little to stop someone who harrases you irl from doing it over the internet as well once you get home. Once you get a gang of people doing that it's not as easy as "lmao just shut ur eyes, close the screen haha"

thats not what im saying. social media harassment is a myth. sure, it can happen in person too but if it's exclusively happening over the internet it takes 3/4 clicks to prevent it. people need to stop blaming social media, its harmless.
