Venezuela

There is a once-proud country in the world where chaos now rules. A wholly corrupt and self-serving government held a bogus national vote which was hopelessly distorted by lies, external manipulation and illegal acts. That government obstinately refuses to leave office and persists in mad and dangerous acts and in defending the indefensible. The people face imminent collapse and the rest of the world are clamouring for them to return to the path of rationality and get rid of the appalling junta now in charge. Some even talk of civil war, the military on the streets, epidemics and famine.

That's just Britain. You should see Venezuela.

Things went seriously off the rails when the oil industry went on strike, a strike almost certainly instigated by the US, but Chavez didn't react well to it and started to do some very oppressive things. Before that, the socialist government was doing pretty well.
Is OP an apologist for Venezuela? Trying to make out the UK as worse than the basket case of that South American country? I guess that's what regimes do in order to survive, make themselves out to be the only thing that matters to their people even though reality stares them down and the people they serve are fleeing on a daily basis.
I've yet to hear of hordes of Brits heading for Dover or Southampton or Hull trying to get away...

Have you seen the number of people applying for Irish passports, not to mention Estonian ones?

Seems like the OP just hates democracy when it gives results which he/she doesn't like.
Its all about getting Venezula on the side of the US and other colonial powers nothing to do with Democracy, the people or human rights

Which is why no suprise Maduro is more friendly with Russia, Iran, China etc

John Bolton and Jared Kushner are two bad influences on Donald Trump who said in his campaign he was against these regime changes and even going back long before then he was a slight critic of the Iraq war.


Whats shameful is so many EU countries support this which just goes to show they aren't much better than Washington.

80k instead of 50k before the referendum applied for Irish passports from the UK.

If you think that this is equivalent to people fleeing Venezuela... :hmmm:

In the week when they discovered that the average Venezuelan had lost 40 pounds in weight due to food shortages, one of the regimes upper echelon generals was injured in riots. There was a photograph of him being lifted into an ambulance.
He had more chins than a Chinese telephone directory.

Tarnishing all socialism and socialist movement with this one train wreck of a country holds no water, its like tarnishing capitism by creating a comparison with a bad capitalist country like Kazakhstan for example.

I can't help but think the fixation with this country is politically driven to tarnish socialism in the UK under Corbyn. Why don't we focus on the UKs socialist movement, could it be because it worked by any chance?

Can you imagine if corbyn said he won the last election even though he didn't? There would be an outcry. Why isn't there an outcry that Guadiuo is declaring himself leader? The US wants Venezuela as a puppet state, for the oil of course
