Boy, 6, beheaded for not being the right type of Muslim.

He was beheaded for being a Shia Muslim not a Sunni, this occured near the shrine of Prophet Muhammed in Saudi Arabia, the kid was beheaded, a guy came out of a car, stabbed the boy with a broken glass and severed his head in the process, all because he wasn’t the ‘right’ type of Muslim, well tell me, is the ‘right type of Muslim’ the type that murders?!

How? Saudi Arabia is nothing special. They're just stuck in a theocracy considered by many parts of the world now as outdated. It's just that when it comes to other countries or cultures that you're used to the symptoms of the said doom are more... 'normalised'.
The sourcing of this story seems a little weak when you look into it - it's being widely spread in western media, but they all cite "local sources" and some twitter accounts from Saudi are saying that the family deny the Shia accusation part of the story and say it involved a mentally ill man who is known in the area. I'm not saying it's not true, but there are a lot of the usual Iranian outlets pumping the story and that potentially at least points to it being propaganda or distorted.

EDIT: A blogger claiming that the story originates with a Shia propagandist based in New York.

Most journalists don't name their sources, especially when their sources are in such an oppressive nation such as Saudi as they will likely be picked up and never heard from again.

A quote from the source you have provided;

"The deliberate and “anonymous” propaganda is to defame the Saudi leadership in order to bar the investors, shareholders, and stakeholders from the booming Saudi Arabia’s economy, and The deliberate and “anonymous” propaganda is to defame the Saudi leadership in order to bar the investors, shareholders, and stakeholders from the booming Saudi Arabia’s economy, and to paint the progressive Saudi Arabian society as human-rights violator"

Would you like to tell me that Saudi is a progressive nation and not a serial human rights abuser?

This doesn't seem to be a case of not naming covert or anon sources, it does look like one of those things that happens a lot now, eg, every news outlet on the planet repeating what looks like a juicy story without fact checking it themselves. It's noteworthy that the sources that do factcheck are not running this at the moment - for example, Al Jazz, which is noted for being harshly critical of the Saudi system and reports frequently on the dismal human rights situation in SA, doesn't have it.

I don't know if it happened or not, but looking at the current news coverage, this looks like fake news at present anyway.
Saudi Arabia progressive? Lol it’s about as progressive as, actually I can’t think of anything worse.

The source you previously provided actually says that al-Jazeera's Mehdi Hasan reported on the story. Talk about poor fact checking.

I saw that, but there's no mention of it on Mehdi's feeds.

I suspect this story is entirely fabricated, but we'll see.

I get your point, but there may be whole chains of misreporting - sometimes on fabricated stories, for cover they cite apparently reputable sources, who on close examination and checking turn out not to have written about the fake story - which then get picked up as true even by sceptics. I await correction, perhaps Mehdi just talked about this to camera and it doesn't appear as text on the Al-Jazz feeds, but that would be unusual, normally everything they output to camera is also on text.

It is a blatant exaggeration, just like their claims that Saudi is "progressive" and not a human rights violator

You know I don't mind people questioning the validity of news stories. That is a logical thing to do sometimes. But you are talking about a 6 year old boy. Does that not trouble you? The fact that your focus is on defending a position you have a proclivitiy towards (because I assume you are Sunni based on the assertions) rather than worrying about the plight of another human being. Not only has the issue been raised by Western news outlets, but also Pakistan news outlets (a sunni dominant country with its own history of shia persecution), Australian, Nigerian etc...

I will note that Saudia Arabia has a much bigger history of propoganda stories cf. Iran in the West, so any claim to defend Saudia Arabis should receive the same amount of scrutiny. There has been established oppression of Shias in Saudi Arabia for decades, including when my father lived in the country in the late 70s/80s. I would ask that before people call things fake news to defend ideology they reflect more carefully.
These murders will never end if Islam is not reformed in some way (which can only happen if Muslims accept that the Quran is not the word of God). These children will continue to be killed until then.

I am not even Muslim ... but on what basis do you make this claim?
the man was mentally ill

the man was mentally ill

The story is about a 6 year old boy. And even so - why was he killed? Because he was mentally ill? Well that is concerning too... mentally ill people should be treated not killed surely? It is no smaller matter to kill an innocent individual with mental illness, which seems to be what you are arguing...

He meant the killer, not the boy.
