University of Glasgow recommendations

I'm currently in my gap year with my deferred entry application to Glasgow for Civil Eng accepted, so when Accommodation applications open, I can apply as soon as, knowing I have a place at the Uni.

So I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for student accommodation at Glasgow; these are my criteria:
I'll be starting as a first-year and I'm from England, so not familiar with Glasgow,
I can't afford the most expensive places but can afford more than just the cheapest,
I'm not great with people, but I still want to meet new people I can talk to,
I'm not particularly concerned with access to facilities or distance from campus as long as I can reasonably get there by bike, bus or subway,
I'd prefer not to be in a really tiny room.

If anyone can help at all, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Most student accommodations should fit your requirements. Apart from Wolfton hall they are all pretty much in walking distance to the university. Personally I think Queen Margret residences and next doors Winton Drive are in the best areas.

I think we would be perfect for you! Brand new for 2019, Scotway House is an ultra-modern, tech-savvy, yet stunningly characterful accommodation for students situated at Glasgow Harbour in the West End. Close to the University of Glasgow and a 5-minute walk to Partick Underground, Scotway House offers River Clyde views and a separate three-storey building just for studying and socialising. All bills are included with super-fast wi-fi speeds of 200mb per room, and a ZERO Deposit scheme, which means no lengthy deposit refund process for you.
Our room sizes range from 15.1m² to 52.1m² and include shared apartments from £139 per week, studios from £171 per week, 1-bedroom apartments and a top floor penthouse studio with incredible panoramic views. Best of all - pay by room size and not building location! This means you can book a room on the highest available floor for the same price as one on the ground floor; but you need to book quickly because once they are gone, they are gone!
You can book online or contact us if you have any questions.

Thankyou for that detail, might I ask how your accommodation works? It's not listed on the University Accommodation site so I'm assuming it's independent, does this mean anything significant for me? Also, does this mean application is already open, as it is not yet shown on the Uni website.

Independent student accommodations are entirely separate from the University, so they won't be on the university website. I would recommend sticking to the university accommodation, as they tend to be cheaper and more sociable. Independents tend to be more for international students. In terms of Glasgow University's accommodation, Queen Margaret Residence would suit you best as the flats have no more than 5 people in them, and are located in a quiet residential area, only a 20 minute from the University. The rooms are a decent size and all ensuite. A number of the rooms have also been recently refurbished so have a 3/4 size bed instead of single. QMR is entirely undergrad and has onsite staff 24/7. Winton Drive located adjacent to QMR is cheaper as the rooms are not as big, it isn't ensuite and is more postgraduate and master students. I would definitely avoid Murano, if you're not a particularly sociable person, some of the flats here have 12 people in them. Hope this helps!
Thank you all for your help,
I've used all your suggestions to decide on my choices for my accommodation application, with QMR as my top choice.
I'll have to wait and see what they give me, but hopefully, given my status as an applicant who already has a set place, I can get the accommodation I want.
Again thank you all!
