Aqa English literature gcse mr birling

Hey please can someone help me to analyse this quote / give interpretations and writes methods
‘Arthur Birling is a heavy looking, rather portentous man...with fairly easy manners but rather provincial in his speech’
Please get reply if you have any ideas and thank you for your time!
Why is he heavy looking?

What does "rather provincial in his speech mean"?

What sort of social class is this man from?

How much wealth does this man have?

I'm prompting you to think about certain aspects of Mr Birling in connection with this quotation. Is there a particular bit you don't understand?

It can be implied because at the time if you were large that was going to mean you were wealthy.

Thank you for your help!
priestley could be seen as mocking birling- he attempts to present himself as a man of high status but his speech is more of a local dialect/manner

Pompous, verbose but easily outwitted.
