Why do more people not go vegan?

animals are lovely creatures and feel pain when slaughtered, so why so many people still eat meat? do you not feel guilty? why don't more people go vegan then there won't be a demand for meat in the shops, it makes me cry that many people still eat animals.

I was vegetarian for a couple of years. If anything it made me appreciate and enjoy meat more when I started eating it again.

I could never go vegan. I love dairy. Cows would still need milking even if no one consumed jt!

...because thankfully, people still have choice.

I do not feel guilty at all. I will choose what I eat, thank you very much.
Dissonance
I am going to go vegan myself after what my friend told me the way they slaughter animals I just can't eat meat anymore after that
Probably because eating meat & dairy is deeply ingrained in British culture and a vegan diet would be too restrictive to appeal to most people.
I don't feel guilty for consuming meat, dairy or honey.
I avoid eating breeds of animals that I like or feed.

Humans are not encouraged to eliminate all animal and insect derived products from their diets over the long term.
I have many vegetarian & vegan friends; some because they don't like the taste, others for allergy/religious/animal rights/ecology related reasons.
I have seen that keeping to a fully vegan diet for a long time does not have a good effect upon most people's health or personality.
i couldnt imagine enjoying food without steaks, hamburgers, sausages etc. - as important in my eyes as veg and more delicious...

There are many reasons. Meat lovers or people who regularly eat meat maybe can't imagine not eating it as much as they do and they maybe love it too much.

I feel like there are people like that or people like me, whom eat a little bit of meat and have considered veganism. Some reasons people don't turn vegan are the fact that it can be seen as more expensive (it may not be but it can be sometimes too), people may lack motivation or may not have enough passion to do it, they maybe aren't sure of what they would alternatively eat. In my case, i am a fussy eater so i am unsure how i would get nutrients into my body if i went vegan. I think there is a lot of thought involved especially if you are a fussy eater.

Because they're disconnected and don't fully realise what happens for them to be able to go to the supermarket and buy meat, dairy and eggs.

The number of people who'll need to go vegan before any kind of successful consumer boycott of meat is possible is a much harder goal then pressuring the government to first improve animal welfare.

Also some people can't eat vegan protein sources due to allergies (or just dislike them) which would make it unhealthy to go fully vegan. Some people can't handle the higher levels of fibre due to various illnesses etc Some animals products don't make much sense to give up as well like wool which is biodegradable (so better than plastic alternatives which are highly polluting) and sheep need to have their coats sheared for their health as they just keep growing.

Also it needs to be mentioned that a lot of the most focal vegans aren't exactly good role models (not to mention the pseudoscience going around vegan communities or the "puritans banning Christmas" effect that probably puts a lot of people off).
Hey OP. I understand where you are coming from but you have to learn to either ignore or look at both the sides. I am also vegan but a strong believer of Suum cuique. You can’t and shouldn’t control other people’s choices even though they are conflicting yours. You go ahead and do your part. After all there is nothing infallible in this world so you never know who is standing on the right side (assuming there is one)
Please try not getting upset over this. Cheers
As a very strongly vegetarian biased flexitarian (ie. pretty much completely vegetarian), I can say that even being vegetarian can be a challenge in the english diet. If you eat other cuisines (eg Indian), then it is really easy. But in the english diet, going vegetarian is very difficult. The challenge isn't going vegetarian, it's practically abandoning your national cuisine in order to facilitate it. Because English vegetarian dishes are a bit boring, but the meat ones are not. Also, some ignorant people think that there is little or no protein in a vegetarian diet, which is blatantly not true. There's a ton of misinformation about vegetarian diets.

Going Vegan has the issue of sheer cost. It's extremely expensive since there's little to no supply of vegan produce outside of specialist shops. Which charge far above typical cost for the goods. Sadly, vegan is largely unattainable. And there's the health issue of getting enough calcium in a vegan diet which obviously most people are highly concerned about. Also, highly restrictive.

Animals in certified environments just get shot in their head and die. Since they are not able to understand when a gun is pointed at their direction they basically never know they are going to die and so feel no fear at all. Also, they wouldn't even be born if it wasn't for their meat, therefore they enjoyed being alive thanks to the people that eventually eat them. Yes, I used the term 'enjoy' because fortunately enough not all animals are kept in an enclosure 24/7 for their whole life. If you really want to fight for animal rights (which is a good thing) then fight for their rights to live a happy life and finally being killed without suffering.

I personally still eat meat because I already have a very limited diet because I dislike the taste of almost everything. Cutting out meat would cut out a lot of options for me.
because animals are delicious and vegans are ****ing boring
