Paul Manafort sentenced to 47 months in prison for Tax fraud and defrauding banks

Trump's campaign manager has been sentenced to 47 months in prison for tax fraud worth $6m and defrauding 3 banks of a total of $25m, well below the federal recommendation of 19-24 years for such offences, prompting outrage and accusations of white privilege from critics. Is the judge right to give such a short sentence? Do critics have a point that such a reduction in sentence amounts to letting him get away with multiple offences?

That's ridiculous. He should have definitely been given a longer sentence.

They have also seized all of his assets and accounts, essentially leaving him financially bankrupt.

47 months seems like a proportional sentence, 20 odd years is insane.
Poor black guy in America steals from bank - life without parole.

Rich white guy in America steals from multiple banks - 2 years in low-security.

There is no such thing as institutional racism. Clearly.

His own defence team pushed for a longer sentence than this. It's a joke.

They've given him a further 43 months. So that's 90 months (7.5 years) in total.

That's what you get for stealing $30 million in taxpayer's money, lying to the special counsel, breaking bail, intimidating witnesses, etc, etc. Hopefully SDNY throw the book at him now.

EDIT: That was fast
