Which one should swing voters join and why?
Thank you for your contribution
Swing voters should join Conservative as Labour will probably repeat the economic crisis if they came back to power, and the economic stability that the Conservative party is and will be higher than the stability which Labour will ever be able to generate. Also if Labour were in power and they had to deal with Brexit they would have called for a second referendum and somehow made sure that the UK votes to stay so they can have the easy way out with Brexit unlike Conservatives who are taking a proper approach to Brexit and not calling every good minister of the opposition to resign every time they do something which their party can not do.
Well, we've got one party led by egomaniac eccentrics on one side and the other by egomaniac sociopaths.

Ok I exaggerate, but neither party expires confidence in me.

Of the two I’d have to say Labour, but only when you ignore the whole Brexit fiasco.

You mean the economic crisis caused by bankers which started in the US? The same bankers who support the Conservatives? The same Conservatives who had they been in power at the time were promising to deregulate banking even more than Labour had and potentially made the whole thing worse?
Neither are particularly appealing at the moment, IMO.

While neither are perfect right now the Tories are the clear winner.

Just on the issue of Brexit for example, Labour largely is commited to betraying the people while the Tories are at least attempting to respect the result.

On top of that, we can consider how extreme Labour are relative to fairly centrist Tories.

They may support Conservative however Labour was in power when it happened and they were the Government who decided to pay the banks so they could come out of debt with the people's money.

And what would have happened if Labour hadn't bailed out the banks? One of Labours biggest mistakes were not to institute reforms to the banking sector, but as the Conservatives came to power in 2010...

Labour did at least attempt to stimulate the economy, for example by cutting VAT for a year. The other major economy to undertake a similar attempt to moderate the impact of the recession was the United States under Obama. I've read quite a few studies and have had my fair share of discussions that with economists who agree that this fiscal stimulus achieved its aim in the US and, while less analysis of the UK specifically agree that it was on the right track so that by 2010 the UK economy had begun to recover, growing at over 2 per cent, only for austerity (Conservative imposed) and the Euro crisis to create a second recession... Along with all impacting and causing other ills in society to develop and grow (knife crime for example).

Tories certainly aren't centrist.

The word relative is important here. The Tories are broadly no more right wing today than any government in the last forty years while Labour have a leader who would destroy our foreign and defense policy and believes in revolutionary change.

Oliver Cromwell's Speech to the English Parliament
20th April 1653

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?
Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes, have you not defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and picked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone!
So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!

Still pretty relevant today!

Not really. On economics the rhetoric has shifted more to the centre but the actual policies haven't.

I think anyone, right or left, who thinks a Corbyn government would bring revolutionary change is a tad silly. He'd probably up spending and tax a fair bit, and nationalise a few industries. That would be about it really.

It is a choice between an incompetent government which is stuck between a rock and a hard place or an unelectable bigot.
Whilst its fair to say the tory's are a mess with the hardline brexiters & remainers having almost no common ground.

I will never vote for a guy who petitioned to release terrorists from prison, attended hamas rallies, has disrespected the armed forces, has an awful record on antisemitism, oh and he points to Venezuela as an economic success and a reason why we should implement a socialist manifesto, also Corbyns record of flip-flopping/misleading the public on key issues is unbearable.

I think whilst people dislike the way the tory's have ran the government over the last 3/4 years, people will vote for them due to Corbyn being unelectable, and once Brexit is over May will have to go and swing voters will vote for people they trust will strengthen the economy.

It depends what the particular voter wants.

If the voter wants more of the same then vote conservative.

If the voter wants a lot more spending then vote labour is the most basic way to look at it for Jo public who don’t follow the ins and outs of politics and this is assuming we have solved brexit by the time of the next election 😂

Sure Conservatives were in power in 2010, but when did the economic crisis happen in? 2008. And who was in power then? Labour. Who decided to pay out the people's money to the banks for their fake investment loses? Labour.

Labour or Conservative the crisis would have happened all the same and without the banks being bailed out the crisis would likely have been worse.
Both the conservative and labour parties are extremist.

The conservative party harbours extreme NeoCon elements and The majority are basically blairite remnants that want the same as the Labour Party but just with less popular economic policies.

The fact is that the majority of MPs from all party’s are basically the same, with very little divergence of opinion. This is sold as the centre ground. It’s in fact probably among the least popular political view point in the country.

God help us but UKIP or the brexit party are our best options.

I would say labour all the way but their recent actions regarding brexit have not been any better then the tories tbh. TIG is the best party rn in my opion
Both of them are a pile of crap, but at least the Tories are attempting to look in the same direction as the voters do.

If im going to be honest ive been looking into it recently and Monarchism yes Absolute Monarchism is on the rise in a lot of commonwealth nations. While Her Majesty The Queen hasn't endorsed any of these party's due to her choice to remain politically non bias the fact still remains that Our Nation flourished under Monarchism I mean take The Empire for example we did very very bad things but we abolished slavery in nations that wouldn't have for example modern slavery in unthinkable amounts might still even be legal today if it wasn't for us British , we discovered Australia and New Zealand if you dont count the Aboriginals and the Mauri we did great things revolutionised the world , we were the first nation to essentially urbanise to an extent never seen in human history , held the largest military , owned a quarter of the world , we were a proud people a noble one at that all under Monarchs yes i understand there are exceptions like His Majesty George III who due to a mental illness and The French and Spanish we lost The Thirteen Colonies but isn't it worth it? I mean one fluke every couple hundred years for thousands of years of prosperity included with the fact that any Monarch can dissolve 12 Commonwealth nations parliament including the second largest country in the world ( Canada ) they wouldn't give power like that to an elected representative but when you can see whats coming your way Heir wise you can prepare the privvy council can make sure they get the best education in the world but when the first prime ministers (not including those of noble birth like Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford , Sir Winston Churchill Lord of the admiralty a prominent Monarchist , and Sir Nevil Chamberlain also A General in India credited with inventing snooker e.c.t) these are excluded as their interests mostly matched those of the Monarchs but a majority of the other Prime Ministers (commoners) i say most as some like Margaret Thatcher e.c.t were reluctant to give up any land for Britain unless necessary like Hong Kong of which there is a big political movement over there to become a British Colony again we Flourished under Monarchy and Dwindled under this radical form of democracy so if you haven't guessed i propose Monarchism you should look into our history and make your own assumptions of what could be our future if Her Majesty Or when HRH Prince Charles takes the throne decide to dissolve parliament and restore a Modern empire sort of an Imperial Federation. Edit : The Monarchist Party is Centre Right.

Actually some very good sound political reasons for monarchism, but let's be real its not happening...

I think there is a very strong argument for fundamentally changing parlament tho, ie a Presidential style leader election and a house mp election being seperated, often leaders and parties interests aren't always aligned and there are benefits (as well as cons) to separating out the elections.

Increasing the length of rule ie 5 years is too short, parties are terrified of implementing ideas that can be beneficial but the results are invisible for 1 or 2 election cycles (China is a great proponent of this what they have done is remarkable, especially since they have become much more in control of global finance... the wealthiest and largest middle class the world has ever seen, and nobody talks about it)

I do feel in the Uk, the rise of far left socialism is potentially a huge problem, and anyone who uses hugo chavez as an argument should immediately lose their seat as an mp
