Get rid off the dollar signs and put 'latex' in square brackets [ ] rather than curly brackets { }.

The second square bracket should be

I see, that's all well and fine. But is there a preview feature before I post; because right now all I see is a post button next to the dialog/question box.

I need to see what I'm actually posting before I post it--new to latex.

Go to the maths forum and create a thread there instead of clicking the widget at the top. Then you’ll have a preview button.
Can't help. I'm allergic to latex.
