That's all well and good but it's going to be those on the lower end of the income scale - the ones who can't afford to have a child - who are hit hardest by this. There's no way they'll be able to afford to travel to a different state and then pay for an abortion. Seeing as they're classed as an "elective procedure", American insurance companies won't pay for them (nor can the federal government).

Just FYI, health insurance covers a lot of elective procedures - that's got nothing to do with whether it is included in an insurance policy.

There are limited circumstances where medicaid funds can be used for abortions and some states provide additional funding for abortions in other circumstances too. Private insurance is regulated differently in different states. Only a very limited number have legislative exclusions over insurance companies offering abortions and in some states it's effectively compulsory that certain plans do cover it.

Why did you quote me?

Sorry, didn’t mean to.
Calling an early stage embryo a human being is like calling a wall a house. Its just not the same.

Yeah, abort Alabama. It's not as if these things are imposed on anyone and public opinion and democratic mechanisms in place will make it or break it, the only worth in this is to yet again register the intolerance of people who simply think that anybody with a different world view just ought to be wiped off the face of the earth. That's the abortionist cult, not the rednecks. It's nothing to do with us.

Explain?

Explain?

Troll, don't bother.
Abortion is the murder of a child in the womb. All the science has proven the the child is a sentient being. Liberals try to turn morals on their head and criticise those who condemn this barbaric act but murder is murder.

Maybe you find abortion a laughing matter but that says what a sick individual you are

Lol.

Spoiler

I genuinely cannot understand this. They value the potential life of a fetus more than the well-being of the woman. They care more for cells than blacks shot by police and so many other examples.

They always use terms like fetus to get away from the fact that it is a human life that is being murdered in the womb

Even men can understand a woman's absolute claim to her body, that is not what's in question. The accusation of being hateful towards women for opposing abortion is a simple way of trying to squash dissent, not serious enough to be considered. The question is whether it is solely about women or whether there is more involved to make it a unique and probably the most profound question of all.

Whatever the inclination, it's never a good thing to just deride the other side in a lazy and demeaning way. It is a very complex question, both sides can be equally religious and intolerant of each other, nothing between them in nastiness quite often, all that proves it is too broad a question for a single answer. One doesn't have to be religious to stop and think for himself if it's all about women or even more than that, results will always be mixed.

Most relevant quote ever on the subject:

Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.

Trying to simplify a philosophical question as to when life begins in such a way is utterly stupid.

What was the value in you when you were that fetus? Looking back, is that all you think you were at that stage?

Just remember that these people have been able to justify murder without even thinking about it. Very little point in arguing with some of these people.
