How the school is divided in UK ???

English system:

Primary School:
Starts at reception (Year R) at the age of 4 to 5 years old.
Ends at Year 6 (ages 10 to 11) where all student do exams called SATs.

Secondary school:
Year 7 (ages 11 to 12) through to Year 9 (ages 13 to 14).
In Year 10 (or at the end of Year 9), students pick their GCSEs and finish them at the end of Year 11 (ages 15 to 16).

College/6th Form:
Year 12 (ages 16 to 17) to Year 13 (ages 17 to 18) where students pick and complete their A-Level qualifications.

University/Apprenticeship/Job:
After all compulsory free education is complete (and when the student hits 18), they are free to do whatever they like.

Primary school is similar to the English settings but you do national tests from Year 2 all the way through to year 6. The test include English maths and problem solving.
Im comprehensive school year 7-9 you also do national tests and at the end of year 9 you pick your GCSEs. Year 10-11 you do your GCSEs from the WJEC.
College is the same as England as well as university.

Northern Ireland system:
Similar to England but the years in primary school are called P1 to P7. In secondary school the years are Year 8 to Year 14 (you always have to take away 1 to get the English year).
If you want to go to a grammar (more academic secondary school), you have to take a test in P7, either the AQE (Protestant) or GL (Catholic). For an integrated school (these are rare) you can do either. Some people do both.
GCSEs are exactly the same. Most grammar schools have their own sixth form so years 8-14 are in the same school. Most people stay at school for A levels if they are at a grammar, a few go to tech (college with generally more vocational/independent learning, you can do GCSEs, A levels or other qualifications), usually those who don’t get good enough GCSEs to go back to school. Sometimes people move schools for A levels. At a secondary (non-grammar) school, less people come back and a lot have no sixth form.
