Uni of bath vs uni of bristol life

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could give me some facts about bath and bristol’s social life, town life, and uni life in general. Thank you!

Bath and Bristol are quite different considering they're only a 15-minute train ride away from each other.

Here at Bath, it is quite sporty, and most people I know play/socialise with a team. Even if you don't play a sport, it is very easy to become a social member of a team. However, if sports are not your thing, we have lots of societies you are able to join. Bristol has a much bigger and varied nightlife, however, lots of people in Bath enjoy the fact that they can live in a beautiful, safe city whilst being able to travel pretty easily for a good night out. I'm a second year student at the University of Bath and I have a friend who does lacrosse here so I'll try and give you a bit of insight.

There is a mens' 1st team, a 1st and 2nd team for the women and development sessions for those not in a team. Most members start out not having played before and a lot of them progress to playing for the teams. The men's sport is contact and the women's is not and sometimes there are mixed team matches. The development sessions are twice a week and the team practice tends to be more frequent with fitness training as well.

Lacrosse are a very social student sport group - they never fail to have a social every week and with a lot of members in the club, it is a big deal. You can find out more about SU lacrosse at the SU Bath website. The University has excellent sporting facilities and international quality athletes train here. If you enjoy sport or once to try something new, Bath is definitely a very good place for it!

Hi Leah!

Thank you so much for replying. Since you do chemical engineering would you by any chance know about the mechanical engineering course? For bath uni, there is only one choice for mechanical engineering and that's to do the MEng course. I was wondering if I decided to stop after 3 years, would I still get the BEng degree? or is there no BEng at bath at all?

Since I have to choose my uni choice soon, please reply ASAP because this is a part of my decision!
