Organic chemistry conversion conditions?

I am revising all of the conversion conditions and reagents, and I am stuck on converting halogenoalkanes to alkanes. I know that to convert from an alkane to a halogenoalkane it is a free-radical substitution, but I can't find what the other way would be.

Also if anyone knows the conditions/reagents for converting from a nitrile to an amide or vice versa that would be really helpful, thanks!
Halogenoalkane to alkane -> heat with ethanolic NaOH then use Ni/H2.

Nitrile to amide -> (Partial) hydrolysis with NaOH. Mild heating
