panic attack in front of the class

A level sociology teacher found out that I am sick and it's affecting my work from my tutor and he mentioned the exam the next day and asked people if they were nervous. He was looking at me because I was looking down and he said "some people are too nervous, like you are too nervous" then I had a panic attack and took me 30 seconds to calm myself down after he paid me a compliment about an essay. I got scared the minute he said the word exam. Has this ever happened to anyone? It's so embarrassing..

If he isnt being helpful then perhaps you or your parent need to educate him about how he can help rather than trigger another attack? Presumably you have some anxiety issues? Are there any issues relating to coursework and class presentations? Are you getting therapy?

Easy for me to say but if this is year 13 you dont have time for distraction you need to focus.

If you have anxiety you need to have some coping routines, especially if a panic attack happens. You need to switch into that mindset as soon as it happens so you can control it and quickly recover.

Is it panic attack ? Do you have a routine for exams? I answered a similar thread yesterday if that is the issue and can link it.

I do have anxiety and I am not getting therapy. I am not scared when it comes to presentations but I am scared of exams. This is year 12. I feel like I am going to fail everything due to illness and can't get support as the illness is not big enough. That panic attack in class was the first time in my life that I have had one. I did cry to my tutor a week before exams because I was desperate to drop out of A level. I think the only reason I had one was because I was nervous since March and it got to me in may when As exams are around the corner.
I'd recommend speaking to your doctor about your anxiety levels and how it's impacting your education. Anxiety is normal, but when it gets to a level where it impacts your life like it is, that's a clear sign you need further support. Getting some CBT counselling may be the most helpful. Also seeing a doctor could allow you to get a sick note for anxiety if you're really struggling with it and it'd be on record.

1. Go and see your GP asap so it can be diagnosed.
2. Its most stressful before exams wondering rather than during when its too later and you are busy.
3. Stop fighting and focus only on what is in front of you .
4. You need a destressing routine generally and to go into when an attack happens.
5. I was posting to someone about panic attack a few hours before you. The information seems as valid for you as them.

This is a cut and paste.

Have you talked to the exam officer or your head of year?
Has it ever happened in any of your previous exams?
Sometimes they can put you in a different room.

Exam practice helps you defeat this.
Things like meditation and deep breathing can help calm your mind.
If you have anxiety issues am surprised you havent worked out a regime for it long before this.
In the unlikely event this happens, then you will know the invigilators will be aware of your situation.
Maybe you can close your eyes and do some meditation or some deep breathing or just stand outside for a minute?
If you know in advance what will happen and the sky doesnt fall in, then that should let you settle and reduce anxiety.

Exam practice makes you more comfortable with it.

Know what your routine is even if its just to close your eyes, focus, relax and deep breath for 20 seconds.
Most stressful time is leading up to the exam its too late once you are in the exam and you should be too busy hitting your targets essay 1 by x o clock essay 2 by x+1 etc. Break it down like that and you will be so busy it will go quick.

It's usually after exams I worry most, but this time it got to me a week before the exams because I knew my illness can cause failure. Teacher is aware and said not to worry if you fail since its year 12. During the exams it never happens

Just get some cbt and learn some coping mechanisms. You have enough time to sort it out.
