AQA Eng Lit Paper 2... An Inspector Calls

Sheila Birling is a prominent character throughout the play ‘An Inspector Calls’. Priestley presents Sheila as the most malleable character; this is done to show how Priestley believes that the way to change a capitalist society is through the younger generation as their political opinions can be the most easily influenced by those around them and the society they grow up in. One could argue that this attempt to influence the younger generation is unfair, as Priestley is attempting to force his political views upon the young viewers by using an extreme and fictional case in order to sway the opinions of the future generation.
