Is this relationship ok?
My friend (16) is dating a 15 year old and they have had sex. The relationship started after he became 16 and as far as i know they both consented. I just can't seem to get my head around it as the law says no but I don't see how this is paedophilia.

It is not paedophilia.
In the eyes of the law it is statutory rape because a person under 16 does not have the power in law to consent to sex.
The same applies to consent for nude photos; if the 15 year old sent any and the 16 year old has not deleted them- possession of the images are illegal (child porn).
That said, the law tends to be harsher towards older males who have sex with underage female than vice versa.

Morally, there might not be a huge amount wrong with a 16yo dating a 15yo. They might even be in the same school year - and many young couples choose to have sex underage.
Unfortunately, as he is 16, he is technically raping her. That's not to say that it would ever get to a situation where he was charged for it, as it is never handled as black and white, but technically he has committed a crime.

It's not paedophilia because neither party are an adult.
It is statutory rape however.

It is technically illegal but it is very unlikely that they would get into trouble for it so long as they are both consenting (or at least, not more than two consenting 15-year-olds, who can’t legally have sex either). Generally it’s not considered pedophilia if both people are under 18 with only a year or two age difference

I imagine religion would object more to the sex being outside of marriage than the age of the two participants, but I find that whole concept ridiculous and outdated.
