Poland's ambition leads EU to ecological disaster

Strange things have been happening in the EU lately. Poland tends to be a leader while providing a quite specific policy, not abiding by European laws and refusing to implement all-European decisions. At the same time Poland gets 3 times more grants from the EU budget than pays contributions. But it wants to represent the EU on the international scene.
The Vistula Split Channel is just another Polish project that is to be done without European permissions while not considering possible outcomes for the region. That is, Poland wants to act independently in this matter. I just want to wonder what force or who feeds Polish ambition and gives it strength to act contrary to European structures and rules. The answer is quite simple.

The letter says Poland isn't so independent in its desire to build the channel for the project was financed by the USA, which is keen on the channel opening free access to one more Polish port of Elblag. It'll help the USA to locate more troops, missiles and tanks in Poland to stand up against Russia.

Yet, do the Polish people need that? It turns out that they weren't even asked. Mr. Kaczyński has given up both the Poles and the territory covering the bargain with a fairy-tale about Elblag's trade perspectives. Kaczyński has sold not only the ecology of Poland, but also of the whole Baltic region as well.

The residents of the Krynica Morska resort located on the Vistula Split write petitions, organize ecological protests in hope the nature of the region will be protected by ecologists and the leadership of Poland. https://www.krynicamorska.pl/blog/927/stop-przekopowi-mierzei-wislanej-widokowki-z-krynicy-do-komisji-europejskiej-w-brukseli But that's useless because just creates senseless noise around the channel that doesn't influence on anything. It's a closed bargain for both the USA and Poland.

Will anybody be able to stop the construction of the channel and bring the leadership of Poland, which is ready to sacrifice the ecology of Europe for American money, to its level? Of course, yes. Germany, France and other economically and politically more powerful EU states can stop these works, and they should do it because that's in their best interests.

Firstly, all possible efforts should be made for the conservation of the Baltic Sea ecology, which was a stumbling-block during the Nord Stream 2 construction. There are needed resources for that. Secondly, the actions of Polish authorities should be put under control because they implement dangerous project for the sake of the United States or for their own benefit.

Most decisions are actually implemented. However, the current government is a bunch of people who owe their rulings to the tactic of buying voters through social handouts that were unseen in Poland before, taking over the public television and turning it into something that even Joseph Goebbels would probably ashamed to do, and feeding the xenophobia of a rather big part of the underinformed Polish society.

They probably don't, and expertises show that it's in doubt will that investment bring anything, however, it's very difficult to find any credible information on the topic of politics or economics in the Polish internet, and it is practically impossible to find such in the mainstream of Polish media.

Polish specialists either stand back, or they are not featured in the media. At worst they're ostracised as "Russian agents" by the government supporters, and so on. It is practically impossible to make any argument against any policy of the current government without being called either 'Russian agent' or 'traitor' or 'the worst sort of Poles' or 'LGBT pervert'.

A big part of the opposition actually prefers to evacuate. Which what I wish to do. Poland will collapse and the only sane thing to do, is to run before it's too late.

If they start doing something about it, it will only feed the Polish xenophobia. You can't do anything untill this government is overthrown, and any intervention from the outside is likely only to reinforce it.

The only action taken by other countries that might be effective is to stay as quiet as possible on the subject, and as quietly as possible threaten the current government that lots of EU money will be taken away if they keep going like this.

Poland.. probably the last European country left.

If I were a WW2 vet, I'd smack our politicians in the face for the traitors they are.

Better to speak German, (English is a Germanic language after all) than the future, or lack of future they have created for us.
